IND vs SL: Sri Lanka’s fast bowler Suranga Lakmal is featuring in the last match of his cricketing career. The day-night pink-ball affair begun on March 12, Saturday at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Sri Lanka pacer Suranga Lakmal who was also part of the first Test match against Team India in Mohali picked up two wickets to his name. He dismissed the likes of Rishabh Pant and Ravichandran Ashwin to account for 2 dismissals.

Meanwhile, Lakmal is playing his final game of his international career. The veteran fast bowler who bowled in both innings managed to take only one wicket to his name. He got his one wicket by dismissing Axar Patel in the first innings.

He accounted for 5 five-wicket-hauls and 7 four-wicket hauls in the longest format of the game. In ODIs, he took 3 four-wicket hauls. He registered his best bowling figures of 5/47 in Tests, 4/13 in ODIs and 2/26 in T20Is.

The Indian cricket team’s head Coach Rahul Dravid and former Indian captain Virat Kohli congratulated former Sri Lankan Test captain in the latter’s farewell match.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared a video clip on their official Twitter handle that shows Indian head coach and cricketer Virat Kohli congratulating the right-arm fast bowler.

“Head Coach Rahul Dravid and former Team India Captain Virat Kohli congratulate Suranga Lakmal as he is all set to bid adieu to international cricket,” read the tweet from the richest cricket body.

The video clip went viral in no time on social media. Fans from across quarters praised Team India for their classy gesture towards a Sri Lankan player. The video clip lasts for about 13 seconds.

The hosts scored 252 in the first innings with the help of Shreyas Iyer’s 92. In reply, Sri Lanka were bowled out for 109. India extended their domination by scoring 303/9 and then declared the innings.

Shreyas Iyer once again top-scored for the hosts with 67 whereas Rishabh Pant scored 50 to his name. Sri Lanka scored 28/1 at the end of Day 2 and they still have a mountain to climb in terms of the target. They require 419 runs to win and they have three more days in hand. However, India are the clear-cut favourites to win the game and the series by 2-0.
