IPL 2022: IPL’s 5 Lowest Team Scores

IPL 2022: When T20 cricket initially debuted in 2003, a simple question arose: what is an excellent score? People soon discovered, however, that the question had several versions. On some courses, 200 runs will be impossible to defend in certain situations, but 100 runs can sometimes be defended.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) is a T20 tournament known for its big-hitting. It’s difficult to imagine that the IPL has produced such low scores in a country that produces strong batsmen on a regular basis. In reality, there have been 38 instances in which a team has failed to score 100 runs.

Kolkata Knight Riders finished the previous season of the IPL with a score of 84 for 8 in their 20 overs. That was the season’s lowest point total. The IPL, on the other hand, has seen substantially lower scores. Let’s have a look back at-

IPL 2022: Lowest 5 Team Totals in the IPL History

There have been times when teams have lost sight of the goal while chasing huge numbers. We’re going to look at the ‘Lowest team totals in IPL history’ today. The Royal Challengers Bangalore are in first place after being bowled out for 49 runs against the Kolkata Knight Riders. The next team on the list is Rajasthan Royals, who were defeated by RCB for just 58 runs.

IPL 2022: IPL’s 5 Lowest Team Scores

Delhi continues the pattern, as they were dismissed for 66 and 67 runs, respectively, against Mumbai Indians and Kings XI Punjab. They, like KKR, had a bad day on the field, failing to advance past 67 against Mumbai Indians.

IPL 2022: 5. KKR’s 67 vs MI In, 2008

The Kolkata Knight Riders don’t have many fond memories from their inaugural season. KKR had a season they would rather forget after Brendon McCullum hit 158 runs off 73 balls in the first match. The loss at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai is also one of the primary reasons why this season has been a disappointment.

On a track that could have delivered a good match to see, Mumbai captain Sachin Tendulkar won the toss and opted to bowl first. KKR, on the other hand, lacked impetus throughout their innings, losing wickets at regular intervals. None of their hitters appeared to be prepared to face Mumbai’s bowling attack.

4. Delhi Daredevils’ 67 vs Kings XI Punjab In, 2017

The Delhi-based franchise had several particularly difficult seasons in the IPL between 2012 and 2019 when they were rebranded and relaunched as Delhi Capitals. One of those seasons was 2017, in which they once again failed to gain any form of traction. Glenn Maxwell, the captain of Kings XI Punjab, won the toss and requested Delhi to bat on an evening in Mohali.

Sandeep Sharma, who has been a terrific bowler to watch in the first six overs over the years, had one of his best days. As the Delhi hitters struggled to get off to a good start, he swung the ball superbly. He just gave up 20 runs in four overs and took four key wickets. His spell shook the Delhi team, and the rest was handled by Punjab’s other bowlers.

IPL 2022: 3. Delhi Daredevils’ 66 vs Mumbai Indians In, 2017

We had another total to look at when we claimed that 2017 was one of those seasons where Delhi just couldn’t get their act together. This match took place just a week after they were defeated by Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings). Captain Zaheer Khan of the Delhi Capitals batted first.

In their attempt to chase down a large total, Delhi lost early wickets and never appeared in command of the chase. It started with a 6 for 2, then a 20 for 3, then a 35 for 5, then a 46 for 7, and finally a 66 for 7. In the same week, with mostly the same players, the team had been bowled for less than 70 runs twice. Harbhajan Singh and Karn Sharma each took three wickets for Mumbai.

IPL 2022: 2. RR’ 58 vs RBC In, 2009

It is quite rare for an IPL team to have two successful seasons in a row. However, after winning the inaugural season in 2008, the Rajasthan Royals began the 2009 season in an unusual manner. Rajasthan took on Royal Challengers Bangalore, who had finished eighth in 2008, on the first day of the tournament, which was slated to feature two matches.

What happened next, on the other hand, was completely unexpected. The 2008 champions, Rajasthan Royals, were knocked out for just 58 runs, the lowest ever total in the tournament. They had the record until 2017. Anil Kumble bowled a spectacular spell of 5 for 5 in 3.1 overs, and he was well supported by Praveen Kumar and part-timer Jesse Ryder, who both took two wickets.

1. RCB’s 49 vs KKR In, 2017

There have been some strange cricket matches, including the 2017 encounter between RCB and KKR at Eden Gardens. Sunil Narine began the contest by dismantling his countryman Samuel Badree.

RCB was not charged with anything as a result of what they went through. Woakes, Coulter-Nile and de Grandhomme each took three wickets, while Yadav only took one. The RCB batsmen failed to reach double figures and were bowled out for just 49 runs in a woeful performance. Surprisingly, RCB now holds the record for both the most and lowest scores in IPL history.
