Liverpool News: Luis Diaz has brought an air of freshness with himself to Liverpool’s attack. The Colombian striker made the move to Liverpool this winter from FC Porto.
Jurgen Klopp was a huge fan of the winger, and the Reds reportedly paid £37m to acquire his services. So far, Diaz has justified his price tag with the impact he has had on the games.
Diaz has only scored 1 goal in 7 appearances but has given Klopp the extra edge to his side’s attacking play. Despite his exhilarating start for Liverpool, former Arsenal player turner football pundit, Paul Merson issued a warning for him.
Merson opined that the other Premier League teams have already identified Luis Diaz as a major threat and will prioritize keeping him in check when they face Liverpool. He believes that the fresh challenges for Diaz will test his qualities and if he can continue at the top of his game even then.

“He’s come in and caught everybody on the hop. Defenders wouldn’t have watched him much or known much about him and he’s taken them by surprise. Now all of a sudden he’s on the radar and this is when you’ve got to produce. He’s in opposition team talks now, said Paul Merson on the Colombian winger.
Paul Merson also said that Liverpool’s oppositions would have more to ponder than just Salah, Mane or Jota. The 23-year old has shown that his pace and directness can make him more of a goal threat down the left alongside their prevalent strikers.
“When teams are discussing how to set up against Liverpool and who to stop, it’s not just Mo Salah and Sadio Mane and Diogo Jota they’re talking about; it’s Luis Diaz.
“So it’s a different game for him now. He will be a marked man. I don’t mean in a vicious way but teams will adjust and try to stop him.”
Paul Merson reckoned that Liverpool will need all of their frontline players in top form for the remainder of the season if they are to challenge for all the trophies.

“Do they have the squad to win four trophies? Probably not. But they’re going to have a go and Diaz will have to play his part,” said the former Arsenal striker on Liverpool’s title challenge.
Arguably, Luis Diaz’s best performance for Liverpool came against Inter Milan in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League. Klopp brought him on for the second half, after a lacklustre performance from his side in the first half.
The Colombian sparked life into their attacking play, and Liverpool eventually came out with a 2-0 victory from the European tie. Diaz was also effective against Chelsea, in the Carabao Cup final victory where he started the game.
