IPL 2022 Auction: List of 7 key players missing out in action for the 2022 Edition

IPL 2022 Auction: IPL 2022 will be a lot different and more exciting this time. A Mega Auction happening after ages, two new franchises added into the pool, being some of the reasons.

While fans are not able to keep their calm anticipating the action in-store, there has been some bad news as well. Right before the mega auction to happen in February, several key international players have pulled their names citing personal reasons.

Biobubble fatigue, covid restrictions, injury concerns, and workload management are the common reasons behind not being a part of the upcoming edition.

The seven key players to miss out on this time include- Chris Gayle, Ben Stokes, Joe Root, Mitchell Starc, Sam Curran, Jofra Archer, and Chris Woakes.

IPL 2022 Auction: 7 International Players who didn’t register for Mega Auction

1. Chris Gayle

The 42-year-old Universe boss from West Indies was also not a part of the second half of IPL 2021. He had pulled out citing bio-bubble fatigue and injury reasons. This year as well, he has kept himself away from the contest because of the same reasons. Gayle is a popular name in T-20 cricket and has earned a lot of fanbases. It will be extremely disappointing for his fans to see his absence this time.

2. Ben Stokes

The 30-year-old had to pull out from all the matches of IPL 2021 after he broke his finger in the first match. He was recently a part of the Ashes in which his side faced a merciless defeat in hands of the Aussies. Stokes has decided to spend his summer resting and spending some time with family instead.

3. Joe Root

Stokes’s fellow mate, Joe Root was also a part of the Ashes. Following his team’s defeat, he has decided to spend the summer practicing and focusing more on test cricket for the team.

4. Mitchell Starc

This ferocious Australian speedster has also pulled out from this IPL season. He revealed that he wanted to revive and focus on his form for the upcoming ODI series. Noteworthy to mention, he was also a part of the Ashes which concluded recently.

5. Jofra Archer

Jofra Archer missed out on IPL 2021 due to injury. He had to undergo surgery and returned for a brief time to the field. However, he again fell prey to injury later. Although he is fit and playing for his side, he wants to keep himself at bay from further injuries by not playing the 2022 IPL.

6. Chris Woakes

Another player from the England Cricket team, Chris Woakes has also not registered his name for the IPL 2022 auction. Chris featured in only 03 matches in the previous edition where he managed to bag 05 wickets. He has cited bio-bubble fatigue, fatigue, and injury to not participate this time.

7. Sam Curran

Previously, Tom Curran had pulled himself out of IPL 2022 auction. Soon after, his brother, Sam Curran has also joined him. He is still recovering from the injury sustained during the T20 World cup.

The loss of all the above players will definitely be a strong blow to the franchises. We believe there are no more last moment surprises that could reduce the excitement for the upcoming edition.
