IPL 2021 – Complete imbecility “Was not being explained why I was dropped as captain” – Sunrisers Hyderabad Captain David Warner

IPL 2021 – The current season has been an unforgettable one for the 2016 champions Sunrisers Hyderabad as the team was knocked out of the league phase after some poor performance in the tournament. The first team to be pulled out of IPL 2021 was Sunrisers Hyderabad, winning only three matches out of their 14 matches in the tournament.

David Warner, who was the captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad in the current tournament earlier, was dropped midway and Kane Williamson was appointed to captain Sunrisers Hyderabad over the rest of the period in the tournament.

Talking about which David Warner says it is sad that the franchise has sidelined his contribution due to only 4 bad matches when he has been part of the team for 8 long years. David Warner believes some questions will often prevail unanswered throughout time.

“Another disappointing thing for me was not being explained why I was dropped as a captain. I think if you want to go along with the lines of form, it is a difficult one because I guess what you have done in the past would have some weight moving forward especially playing almost 100 games for a franchise. There are still questions to which I think I’ll never get answers, but you have to move on,” David Warner says

David Warner further says that due to bad communication in the team management and between players and without any reason, he was dropped from the team.

“With the utmost respect for the owners, Trevor Baylis, VVS Laxman, Tom Moody, and Muttiah Muralitharan, when a decision is made it should be an unanimous one. You don’t know who is the person or who is going for it or who wants you to be selected or not,”

Australia’s left-handed opener David Warner wants him to be a part of Sunrisers Hyderabad next year as well but it is not in his hands.

“Hyderabad’s my second home, they have treated my family with great respect. Every time I have visited there, people want to give us hugs, speak to the kids and that is the most important thing to me in life.”

I am grateful for those memories and look forward to what’s going to happen in the future. I would love to be at SunRisers next year, but time will tell. I’d love to be part of the IPL in 2022, started my career with Delhi, and then played with SunRisers. There are plenty of runs left in these legs so, I am looking forward to whatever opportunity presents itself.”

David Warner said through his social media that he thought that maybe the franchise would not retain him in 2022 next year but there is no confirmation yet.

“Sometimes, you get that feeling that you are not going to be retained with little sign-ups that you can see around the group. From my perspective, I can see the writing was on the wall and it was an appropriate time to say thank you. When you get on board with a new franchise, you don’t want to be posting too much about the competition so I felt it was the right time to say goodbye.” David Warner says

In the current season of IPL 2021, Sunrisers Hyderabad captain David Warner has scored 195 runs in 8 matches including 2 half-centuries. This is the first time since 2015 that the Sunrisers Hyderabad team has not even reached Playoffs’
