Paul Pogba to sign contract extension?, French star drops hint

Manchester United is all set for the new Premier League season. The exciting team is set to host Leeds United on Saturday. The Red Devils will be hoping to start with a win into the new season.

However, Manchester United had done very well last season, at least in the domestic competitions. They made an impressive second place finish in the Premier League last season. However, the season end did not go well for them as they lost the UEFA Europa League final to Villarreal.

Nevertheless, the Old Trafford based club is looking fresh after making some fabulous signings. They brought in Jadon Sancho, who was a long-term target for them. They also brought their primary centre back target Raphael Varane. The side is looking very sharp already.

Paul Pogba indicating towards extending his stay

Paul Pogba has shared a photo on his Twitter account that could well mean something positive for Manchester United. He shared a picture of himself in the Manchester United jersey with the caption “It’s Time”.

The it’s time caption could certainly mean that Paul Pogba has finally made a decision to sign a new contract with Manchester United. The club is desperate to tie him up as he is entering into last year on his current contract.

However, Paul Pogba held the view that he was willing to move away. He also conveyed this message to the club. Even Manchester United came to terms with his decision and they waited for clubs to move for him.

Juventus and Real Madrid were expected to move for him, but they did not. It is because both the clubs are facing financial difficulties, especially Juventus. While Real Madrid is focusing more on bringing young players, which probably rules out Pogba, who is already 28.

Since it has become clear that any club will most probably not make a move, at least in the coming days. Manchester United do not want to risk losing him for free. According to a report from ESPN, Manchester United is confident that Paul Pogba will sign a new deal in the coming days.

Nevertheless, the French International joined Manchester United from Juventus in 2016 for a club record fee of £89.3 million. The 28-year-old has so far made 199 appearances for Manchester United in all competitions. But he only featured 26 times in the Premier League last season.

Paul Pogba has certainly not lived to his price tag. He has majorly flopped at Manchester United with only glimpses of terrific performances. He was buzzing at Juventus but at Manchester United; he looks just like a passerby.

Not end of the transfer saga

Though Paul Pogba is close towards signing a new deal at Manchester United. But it does not mark the end of the transfer saga. The contract extension is just a new chapter in the transfer saga. Paul Pogba still wants to desperately leave Old Trafford. But right now, the contract extension is the best for both the parties since Manchester United do not wish to risk leaving him for free.

However, Paul Pogba will definitely push for an exit in the next window. If not January, then surely in the next summer. Even other clubs will be more confident to move for him with the improving economic conditions.
