The Euro 2020 champion on the radar of Serie A giants

The Serie A giants Juventus got more challenges in the domestic fight as they lose the title to Inter Milan last season. But, they are on the track for new reinforcements and the legendary boss Massimiliano Allegri is back on the action in Turin.

The Italian head coach had his first spell with the Old Lady from 2014-2019. But, he left the team after winning everything and Juventus lost their domestic dominance after 9 years. The rise of Milan clubs was obvious but, the performance of Juventus wasn’t.

According to the latest transfer updates, Juventus are targeting the Euro 2020 star of Italy Manuel Locatelli in the summer transfer window. The 23-year-old got huge demand in the market as he established himself as a reliable option in the midfield of Roberto Mancini in the campaign.

Locatelli made 5 appearances in the campaign and scored 2 goals. He was the first pick for Mancini till the return of Marco Veratti into the midfield from the injury. Although, he proved himself in the competition and attracted major interests in the market.

Premier League heavyweights Manchester City and Arsenal are interested in the player along with Juventus. Locatelli’s contract in Sassuolo expires in the summer of 2023. Also, the club identified the importance of the player and setting up the business outfit for the summer.

Locatelli had an impressive season in Serie A. The defensive midfielder made 34 league appearances for Sassuolo. Also, he scored 4 goals and assisted for 3. (Transfermarkt)

Negotiations on the table from Juventus:

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus started negotiations with Sassuolo demanding an offer including cash plus player in the summer. Sassuolo are standing firm in their asking price of €40m and they have rejected proposals from the Old Lady to pay this in installments.

The 19-year-old prospect Nicolo Rovella is the name mentioned in the deal. Turin is ready to sell the player to Sassuolo in order to win the Locatelli deal. Rovella is currently playing for Genoa on loan from Juventus. He got one more year in his Genoa contract and that is a concern for the Old Lady.

Meanwhile, Juventus are willing to consider more young prospects of the team to get the edge of the Locatelli deal. Midfielder Nicolo Fagioli, who has only made one senior appearance, could be a more realistic option.

The 22-year-old left-back Gianluca Frabotta who has featured sparingly for Juventus in recent seasons is another option. Turin will reportedly sign a midfielder in the summer transfer window to add more creative moves in the center circle.

Allegri back on charge will reshape the squad and the transfer window might see decent anticipations from the Italian giants. However, the recruitment drive from the Euro 2020 campaign is still continuing in Europe.

Stars are getting the attention of major sides of Europe. Teams made the alterations to their summer wishlist after the tournament. The Italian players got their bargaining chip for the summer transfer window with the title glory at Wembley.
