Maurizio Sarri joined Chelsea in the summer of 2018. He managed 63 games for the Blues and left the job for Italian giants Juventus after one year. His replacement was a celebrated one in Stamford Bridge, the club legend Frank Lampard.

Sarri’s Chelsea track record was not bad as the team won the Europa title under the Italian. Also, they finished the domestic fight in 3rd position in the league. Even though he had issues with the players and failed to keep the friction between them.

He opened up his regretting thoughts on Chelsea exit in an interview given to Sport Italia. ‘At Chelsea, I made a sensational mistake, that of wanting to return to Italy at all costs. Marina stonewalled me to leave Chelsea, I had this desire to return to Italy.

“Chelsea are a great club, in the following years, they have taken many young people suitable for me. I experienced a particular year, in which Abramovich could not enter England and we had an owner who was not present in the area. (Daily Mail)

The reign of Frank Lampard witnessed a series of signing after Chelsea faced a transfer ban in the previous year. The signings of Kai Havertz, Timo Werner, and Hakim Ziyech happened in the final days of Lampard at West London.

But, it was the privilege of German tactician Thomas Tuchel to unleash the full potential of these stars. Tuchel had an impressive start in his very first season in England. Chelsea won the Champions League under Tuchel and Stamford Bridge witnessed the rise of a set of youngsters.

Tuchel had a good impression in the team camp and that helped the young talents to keep the spirit up in the squad. Maurizio Sarri also mentioned his liking towards the new recruits of the Blues.

Sarri’s kind of players of Chelsea:

In the interview, the Napoli boss appreciated the signings Chelsea made last season. He said that the players including Timo Werner, Kai Havertz, and Hakim Ziyech are suitable for his style of play and he missed that by quitting the job.

Meanwhile, Sarri spent the 2019-20 season as Juventus manager and won Serie A before being replaced by Andrea Pirlo.

Now, Chelsea hold a sensational squad of Europe after the new recruitments of last year. They are targeting few more options in the summer transfer window to add a boost to the Premier League dreams. The summer transfer window is expecting some additions in the midfield from Chelsea.

Also, Tuchel has to deal with the returnees from the loan. They’re keeping tabs on AC Milan players as the Serie A side is also interested in trade with the Blues. There were rumors that the midfielder Jorginho might be leaving Chelsea for Napoli to make a reunion with his ex-boss.

Maurizio Sarri’s Napoli contract will end in 2023. He can regret his past decision because Chelsea had an impressive campaign last year that subject to envy from other major sides which are obvious.
