Arsenal News: Saliba speaks on exit as West Ham consider Nketiah move

West Ham eyeing a move for Eddie Nketiah

With the ongoing speculations surrounding the future of Eddie Nketiah after he entered the final 18 months of his contract. West Ham United appeared to be favorites to land the 19-year-old striker on a loan. That’s according to the Evening Standard, who have reported about the growing interest of the Hammers in Arsenal striker.

Nketiah shares the wishlist of the West Ham alongside Bournemouth striker Joshua King and Stade de Reims star Boulaye Dia. David Moyes’s side is looking for a replacement following the departure of Sebastien Haller to Ajax on a permanent basis. The center forward ended his 18months stay with the Hammers sealing a move to Ajax.

West Ham is keen to offer a loan move or a permanent one. Once Arsenal reveals their intention to open up for any offer for a young striker. Nketiah hasn’t yet agreed on a new contract. Moreover, his future indirectly depends on the future of Folarin Balogun who is edging closer towards the end of his contract in June.

Arsenal suspended talks with Grenier

It was during the summer of 2012 when Arsenal held transfer talks with the French midfielder Clement Grenier. He came through the ranks of Lyon academy with Arsenal star Alexandre Lacazette. That sane year Grenier was very close to joining Nice. However, the deal collapsed after his teammate Yoann Gourcuff suffered a knee injury.

Although destined to move to Nice but the Frenchman stayed with Lyon and now the Rennes midfielder revealed in an interview with L’Equipe that Arsenal was also in line for the transfer. He said, as per Sport Witness. Weaving praises for his coach and the club he states that the time was the highlight of his career. Because the coach trusted him completely and let him express himself freely.

Later when he was involved in discussion with some international clubs like Arsenal where Grenier was hesitant to go. But the midfielder decided to stay with Lyon as the confidence was so huge that Grenier would not risk losing it. He also said that it was due to Remi Garde that he makes it to the national team.

The former graduates of Lyon academy Alexandre Lacazatte and Clement Grenier were tipped to join the European club at a very young age. Has things been different the two would have had a reunion at Arsenal?

William Saliba joins Nice for the rest of the season

Arsenal defender William Saliba has joined Ligue 1 side Nice on loan for the rest of the season. Saliba completed a medical test on Monday for the French club and is set to return only after six months of his return to Arsenal from St Etienne.

Arsenal signed the defender for a deal worth up to £27million from St Etienne. Saliba is yet to make any competitive first-team appearance for Arsenal. The 19-year-old was fed up with no game time and wanted a move. Thus he sealed a loan move with no transfer fee whereas Nice will pay his wages.

The 19-year-old was even ready to accept a significant wage cut in order to secure a move away from Arsenal. Arteta believed that Saliba needed a transition year so he sent him back to St Etienne as part of the deal. The defender made 17 appearances for the club before making a return to Arsenal. Arteta who had enough of choice in central defender left him out of the squad.

The technical director of Arsenal Edu told on the club’s official website that Saliba has huge potential and talent. He is confident that the defender has a great career with Arsenal. Nice is the best way for him to develop and the club forward to seeing him make good progress until the end of the season
