Andrei Kanchelskis has asked Paul Pogba to leave Manchester United. The former Russian international also believes that his agent Mino Riola is a huge problem for the club. He said “Pogba is always talking about leaving Manchester United, so for me, it would be better if you just left. Raiola is a huge problem, he’s always saying that Pogba is not happy at Manchester United.”

This comes in the backdrop of Paul Pogba saying that he dreams of playing for Real Madrid one day. These comments came just days after United suffered a horrible 1-6 at home to Tottenham. In that game as well, the Frenchman gave away a penalty and overall had a very poor game. He made these comments while he was on international duty with France.

Last season he was heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid. However, Florentino Perez was not interested in bringing to the Bernabeu. He considered him to be an unnecessary expensive signing. While Zinedine Zidan was very keen on him. It is believed that Zidane had himself promised Pogba that he will sign him for Real Madrid.

Even recently he said that the French national team is like a breath of fresh air to him. He made this comment in the backdrop of not starting regularly for the Red Devils. Though he did mention that he did not imply that playing for his club level is bad in any way. Even his national team manager Didier Deschamps said that he can’t be happy about his situation at Manchester United.

Paul Pogba problem for Manchester United

No club in world football deserves that kind of disrespect Pogba has often shown towards Manchester United. Even Eden Hazard talked about playing for Real Madrid but he never did that after a big defeat. He showed respect to Chelsea. Not only this the constant media attention the Red Devils get due to him is totally unwarranted.

Many argued that he needed better players around him at United. However, the arrival of Burno Fernandes has completely shown that’s not correct. Good players uplift players around them rather than being dependent upon others. Pogba’s supporters also question why it is only the Frenchman who is often questioned.

The answer is the kind of comments he and his agent have made about United attract such things. Sir Alex Ferguson let go of him saying that his attitude was not right. Perhaps it seems that he was right considering the present situation. Pogba has clearly failed to live up to the hype of his $90 million transfer from Juventus.

Every now and then he is linked with a move away from the club. It is not because he performs very well rather it is because he is apparently not happy at the club. Considering how inconsistent he has been for the Red Devils it should be the other way around. Selling him is also a problem because United wants to recoup most of the money they invested in him but no club is willing to stamp that kind of money for him.

The potential solution to the Pogba saga

At this stage, Manchester United should forget about getting money back on their investment. The coronavirus pandemic has resulted in financial crises. It is highly unlikely that any club would be willing to pay anywhere near to what the Red Devils paid for him four years ago. It is very much clear that Pogba wants to leave Manchester United.

The next move could be to get the best out of him. However, it has been four years and it is still not clear what his best position is. He has done well when he has played just behind the striker. But Burno Fernandes just too good to be removed from that position for Pogba. At this moment Fernandes is far more valuable to Ole Gunnar Solksjear than Pogba.

Even when he has tried to play deep, he hasn’t been at his best. He often gives away the ball and he is defensively vulnerable. A potential solution could be to bring in a deep-lying playmaker or a regista. With such a player in the team, he can drop deep and collect the ball, while Pogba can be pushed further up the field alongside Fernandes.

But then the question comes up can United successfully sign such a player? They have often shown how poor they are at the transfer dealings. If they can get the right player, then they might have a chance of getting the best out of Pogba.
