BBC pundit claims player left Arsenal is better than 100k-a-week

The BBC Pundit Clinton Morrison has praised the former Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez. He has made claims that the player is better than Arsenal’s 100k per week player Bernd Leno. Morrison has praised the efforts of Argentine international at Arsenal and stated him to be better than Leno in so many ways.

Emiliano Martinez attracted the attention of a number of host of clubs but only a single club Aston Villa could secure his signing during the summer. The decision has been Under controversy since the time Aston Villa has signed the goalkeeper.

Villa set Martinez as their prime target throughout the summer. After getting rejected twice, it was during their third bid having the contract offer of £20m. That lead to the swap moves from Arsenal to Aston Villa.

Even after spending 10 years in the books of Arsenal, the goalkeeper had to end his spell at the Emirates. The 28-year old has always played as a substitute and has served Arsenal by playing as a deputy player for years.

It was during his time at the end of last season when he was deputed to play in the absence of Bernd Leno. Arsenal’s first-choice goalkeeper Leno, sustained a knee injury in June. The injury ruled him out of Arsenal squad for final eleven matches of 2019/20 campaign.

In the time period when the German was absent from the squad. Martinez pulled out the role really well and also became a part of 14th FA Cup triumph of Arsenal and community shield win against Liverpool.

Why Emiliano Martinez switched to Aston Villa?

Thus, in those 11 games, Martinez really proved himself to be capable of becoming Arsenal’s number one. After waiting for eight years in the shadow. Fans could see his command of the area, handling of crosses, and ability to play out from the back all caught the eye.

Many fans thought that Martinez is a more solid option than Leno. Mikel Arteta was really impressed with his performance and offered him an increase in wages. But Martinez has centralized his willingness to stay at the playing time. He has clearly mentioned his stance of being the first choice at Emirates and refused to play a second fiddle.

Even though he has gained the trust of Mikel Arteta and Arsenal’s officials. But he wasn’t given the assurance of a first-team member. In a fear of losing the position again to Bernd Leno when he would return to the squad. The Argentine goalie decided to move away from the Emirates where he could get regular football.

It seems that he has switched a club for good. Aston Villa assured a regular football to Martinez and so far they have made him appear four times for them. The 28-year old made a superb start and has also yielded three clean sheets with only Liverpool scoring past the club.

BBC Sport pundit Clinton Morrison has praised Martinez’s at BBC Radio 5 Live (7:29pm, 19/10/20) Morrison clearly made claims by saying that he’s aware Arsenal has Leno but in his opinion, Martinez is a better goalkeeper. Adding further he said, the Argentine has been really good to his team and Villa has done great business.
