Arsenal offered £5m for Mesut Ozil & will meet his wage demands

There was so much optimism when Mesut Ozil joined Arsenal from Real Madrid in 2013. The German continued his fine form but at times he was often criticized for his lack of work rate and lethargic body language. However the Arsenal faithful were always quick to defend him.

Unai Emery came and he started to point out Ozil, for his lack of work rate. Many believed that Emery was wrong to do so. The Spaniard was replaced by Arteta. The latter played him regularly, however since the restart of football after the lockdown, Arteta has hardly played Ozil.

Things became bad to worse for Ozil after he was not selected for Arsenal’s Europa League squad. The German was once called a wizard due to his playmaking skills, however, he is now just a bench warmer for the Gunners.

Ozil is also one of the highest-paid players for Arsenal and the Gunners would want to sell him. The world cup winner does not fit in Arteta’s high intensity and high work rate tactics. Thus in order to cut their losses, they want to sell him but they haven’t been successful.

Have Arsenal finally found Ozil’s buyer ?

According to a report, a Saudi Arabian club Al Nassar is willing to offer Ozil similar wages to that of what he earns at the Emirates. They are also willing to offer the Gunners £5m to end Ozil’s Arsenal misery.

The Premier League giants are also ready to sell Ozil and they would be happy to let him go as well. It looks plausible as at times Arsenal have struggled to offload Ozil, as no club has managed to match his wages.

However, the former Schalke midfielder is not interested in leaving the Emirates. As per the report Ozil is likely to reject the offer and stay at Arsenal. The German realizes that his time with Arsenal is nearly over, despite this he will reject the offer.

He has previously stated that he will see out his current Arsenal contract that expires in 2021. Right now he is 31 and by the time his contract comes to an end, he will be 33. Currently, he is earning  £350,000 per week at the club.

The Mesut Ozil condorum for Mikel Arteta

Mikel Arteta has given Mesut Ozil the cold treatment but the Spaniard must justify it as well. It is understandable that Ozil, does not fit in his style of play but still, the German is a quality player.

Perhaps the Spaniard can try to experiment with his tactics to bring in Ozil. In case if he is unable to reach the desired targets this season, questions will be asked as to why Ozil was not picked in the starting eleven.

While for the former Real Madrid midfielder it would have been better if he leaves the club. His former partner in crime Alexis Sanchez also struggled at United but he agreed to get his wages cut and now he is thriving at Inter.

Perhaps a similar move could also help Ozil as well. He clearly has potential but he is wasting it on Arsenal’s bench.
