Manchester United eyeing to land a veteran Striker before the deadline on a free transfer. The striker is rated €20m and also currently a free agent in the market. United is currently in the market looking for a solid striker. Norwegian manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is struggling to find a rhythm this season in Premier League.
The Red Devils are currently with a win and loss out of their two Premier League games this season. The club has been struggling to score goals even during the pre-season. They came into the league opener with a loss against Villains. As a result, Ole’s side suffered a loss against Crystal Palace via Wilfried Zaha brace.
Now, the club and Ed Woodward is in the market to sign some star players before the deadline. United completed the signing of Donny Van de Beek from Ajax Amsterdam recently this summer. He has been the only signing for them so far this window. The midfielder did score on his professional debut for the Manchester club.
Van de Beek scored the only goal for United against the Eagles on their first Premier League game of the 2020-21 season. They have been behind English winger Jadon Sancho of Borussia Dortmund. However, United couldn’t succeed in convincing Dortmund with their bid. They are in the market for a striker and a winger.
The club has been linked with various forward players recently. A recent name that is doing the rounds is Ousmane Dembele. However, the player has expressed his desire to stay at Camp Nou and deliver goods. Liverpool has also made a bid for the winger, but got rejected.
Can experience help United’s attack?
Ole is looking to join hands with his fellow Norwegian forward Joshua King from AFC Bournemouth. The forward is currently plying his trade at Championship and will be looking to play at the top tier. Spurs and Aston Villa are also monitoring the situation to sign the striker.
His experience can help the side change fortunes and give some challenge to Martial and Ighalo. Now, according to Gianluca di Marzio, Red Devils are looking to rack up former PSG and Napoli striker Edinson Cavani, who is currently a free agent. The striker can become the sphere head of United’s attack.
Paris Saint-Germain released their star striker Edinson Cavani this summer. A number of clubs have been chasing him for his signature. Portuguese club was keen to sign the Uruguayan forward but the deal didn’t materialize. Although, they have signed Jan Vertonghen, who was also a free agent in the market.
Recently, they have swapped Ruben Dias for Nicolas Otamendi with Manchester City. Benfica has good depth in their attack and with Cavani’s addition, they can do well at Liga NOS this season. However, United needs him the most now in their squad. The striker has 341 goals in 556 games in his career so far.
Is Cavani the Solution To Manchester United Problem?
The veteran striker has loads of experience on his shoulders. He can only fix the problems for United’s issue upfront. Coming from a high-class pedigree, Cavani can only help Ole’s attacking setup. With just five days left for the deadline, United are looking to splash the cash. Although, this could be a bargain to seal him for free.
The striker is now available for free in the market, however, they need to convince him for personal terms. United has extended the deal of Odion Igahlo up to January. However, the striker is not in a great run of form at the moment. This is some problem for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to work on. French striker Martial is also yet to hit the ground running this season.
Under Sir Alex Ferguson’s tenure, he would have four fit and able strikers to compete with each other in the squad. The current squad is incompetent in terms of attack. He will be a top signing without a doubt, but his wages are something to worry about for United.
