Man United chief Ed Woodward keen to sign French winger

The Red Devils are ready to spend huge money in the closing days of the transfer window this summer. Ed Woodward, chief executive of Manchester United is looking to make some purchase before the deadline. The club badly needs some star signings this summer after a poor start to their season. The signing might bring some confidence among the squad.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer didn’t get the start he wanted in the Premier League. The club from Manchester faced Crystal Palace in their home ground. Fans were expecting a good start to this season after a top-four finish last year. Ole’s side played with their key players and new signing Donny Van de Beek from the bench.

Anthony Martial played as the number 9 for Ole last Sunday at Old Trafford. Although, he couldn’t make much of a difference. All the forwards are not in good form, except Rashford and Mason Greenwood. Both of the forwards scored yesterday against Luton Town. Ole fielded his key players in the EFL cup game.

Ighalo was the sole striker for the Red Devils last night with Lingard and Mata playing just behind him. While Donny Van de Beek started the game for United after failing to start the last game against Crystal Palace. The defense looked quite better than their previous game which saw three goals past them. However, full-backs did well last night running down the flank.

They badly an attacking forward at this time considering the form of the forwards. The club is close to signing FC Porto’s left-back Alex Telles this week. He can be a good addition to this United side. On the other hand, according to the Daily Record, Manchester United chief Ed Woodward has held talks with Barcelona to sign their winger Ousmane Dembele before the deadline.

Barcelona ready to sell Dembele?

The Catalan giants are ready to offload their winger according to the recent reports. The Frenchmen are currently fit and back to track. Fitness has been the issue for Dembele since arriving at Camp Nou. Ousmane has been brilliant for the German club Borussia Dortmund under Jurgen Klopp. However, Barcelona decided to invest big money in the sensation and signed him back in 2017.

Barcelona spent around £96million to bring the winger to Camp Nou. The winger arrived by the summer of 2017-18 season. It was the season when the Blaugranas spent more funds to replace their star forward Neymar. The Brazilian winger decided to move away from Camp Nou to sign in favor of Paris Saint-Germain.

Since arriving Dembele has been struggling to find his form in Barcelona. He has been often sidelined due to knee injury. The winger wasn’t available for the entire league the last term due to injury. Dembele is now available for selection this season. However, the club has decided to send him out this season on loan as per reports.

Although, it’s not a good decision to send a player like Dembele out on loan. It’s the same mistake that they did with Brazilian attacker Coutinho. Cules weren’t happy with loaning out Coutinho to Bayern Munich. He found his rhythm and performed well with the Bavarians. He did score against them in the famous semi-final clash between both sides. As a result, it’s not a good move to send Dembele out on loan this term.

Could he be the right alternative for Sancho?

Manchester United have been behind Jadon Sancho for quite some time. The right-winger has been the top priority for the Red Devils this summer. However, his signature might be an impossible task for United. Sancho is already with the Dortmund squad and hit the ground running on Bundesliga. United have been pursuing him from the start of the transfer window.

However, Dortmund is adamant to let go of their English International. The German club is demanding nothing less than £108million. The club is unlikely to spend that much and not in a position to afford this money for one player. They are now looking for alternatives after Dortmund not ready to accept the Red Devils bid for Sancho.

Dembele’s arrival for sure will help United’s issue upfront. Mason Greenwood and Rashford can link up well with the Frenchmen. While Anthony Martial is not in good touch as well. A new striker with Dembele can for sure help bolster Manchester United’s attacking setup. Dembele has claimed just 35 league starts with Barcelona due to long-term injuries.
