The Red Devils are busy chalking out targets as the summer window progresses. Ole is looking to another striker for United.

Manchester United are in their pursuit of more signings as rivals snap up a host of new signings. Lampard has stepped up his interest in Mendy and Rice while Arsenal registered kicked off their season with a win.

However, their pre-season doesn’t look to be working properly. Yesterday, Aston Villa locked horns with the Red Devils, defeating Ole’s side 1-0, as per Birmingham Mail. Ollie Watkins scored the decider in the first half.

Quite evident, Manchester United need more signings – fast and accurate. The Athletic reveal Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking for a back-up striker in the range of £15 million. One player that fits that bill accurately is Bournemouth’s striker Joshua King.

Manchester United planning multiple swoops this week

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer signed Donny Van Beek in a quickfire deal, contrary to United’s previous transfer. Perhaps that is something the Norwegian is trying to instill in the club, in spite of the ‘Glazer inhibitions’.

As a result, the team is still chasing Jadon Sancho and wants to complete the deal before their opening fixture against Crystal Palace. Other than that, they are chasing Real Madrid’s left-back Sergio Reguilon, whom Zidane is ready to sell for €30 million.

In addition to that, there are 2 more players Solskjaer’s interested in – another midfielder and a back-up striker. While Thiago fits the criteria for the former, the latter has a fresh entrant – former Red Devil Joshua King.

Joshua King – ‘Take me home United Road’

Manchester United has been home to promising Norwegians. While some were able to live to their potential, some couldn’t. The former category has current manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the latter has Joshua King.

The 28-year-old joined Manchester United in 2008 from Norwegian side Valerenga U-19. In spite of rising through the ranks of the club youth academy, King managed to play in the senior squad just twice. But the Norwegian has had a respectable career in England, playing 301 games across various levels with 67 goals and 38 assists. Last season, though Eddie Howe’s side couldn’t survive the relegation battle, he scored 6 goals and assisted 4 in 27 games for Bournemouth. (source: SofaScore)

He has had a passing accuracy of 72%, with 0.8 goals per game, and has expressed his interest in an Old Trafford return. “I won’t lie, I really wanted to go [to Man Utd] in January. But what happened, happened. We’ll just have to wait and see. There are still a lot of options”, he told TV2.

Chances of a move

Norway’s assistant coach has advised King to move to Manchester United as well. Talking to Dagbladet, Joar Hansen said that King needs to decide whether he wants to play in the topmost level or “go down one level”.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has promoted youngsters freely under his managerial term. This has seen the rise of another promising striker -Mason Greenwood. Perhaps that is where the paradox will lay with Ole, whether to trust a much younger Greenwood, or rope in Joshua King from Vitality Stadium.
