Arsenal are planning to sign Josh Dasilva from Brentford. The former Gunner has been performing really well in the Championship.
Mikel Arteta has been planning a reconstruction lately. But with financial problems, Arsenal has had issues in the process. The Gunners are still considering options to make things happen. Their win over Chelsea in the FA cup finals has given them a boost as well.
Arsenal has been eyeing a list of stars ahead of the window. But as per the latest reports, they are keen to sign a former Gunner. Josh Dasilva is the man Arsenal are keen to sign now. Dasilva currently plays for Brentford in the Championship. The 21-year-old left Arsenal back in 2018 but is now showing great improvement in his game. This urges the Gunners to try to lure him in.
Dasilva was a winger and forward for Arsenal. But in the time he has been at Brentford he plays in the midfield. This change of position has caught the eye of Arsenal. Arteta has been looking for a formidable midfield option lately. The youngster seems to have the right attributes Arteta is looking for.
Dasilva also has pretty good stats at Brentford. In 42 games the youngster has 10 goals and 2 assists. This is a pretty good tally further adding their interest in him. But the youngster must also feel the same about resigning. After all, it’s just been two seasons since he left the Gunners. He is also having a great time at the Championship. But Arsenal is in dire need of new recruits. So they will try to lure him in this summer.
Arteta desperately need a midfield signing
Mikel Arteta has been eyeing for a new midfield recruit. The Spaniard has been uneasy with his midfield. Well, Arsenal has been suffering from this issue for a while now. Since the exit of legends like Vierra and Gilberto, Arsenal has been missing a formidable midfielder.
Arsenal doesn’t have a player they can assign as the midfield general. Which is why Arteta has been looking to sign a midfielder. He has already made a list of suitable targets. Dasilva is the latest to enter into the list. Thomas Partey and Philippe Coutinho are the other choices.
But both these stats seem to be more expensive than young Dasilva. Josh has a release clause of £45m, as per Daily Star. While Partey and Coutinho are much higher up the scale. Atletico Madrid has put the bar high for Partey. The Ghanaian plays a pivotal role for Atletico and Simeone wants a pretty good sum for his exit.
Meanwhile, Barcelona doesn’t want to offload Coutinho for a low price either. Despite his being a record transfer, the Brazilian was not able to shine at Camp Nou. They are now trying to get him off the wage bill despite Setien wanting to experiment with him. Arsenal are very keen on making a move for him, but his fee seems to be stalling them.
Dasilva will be a cheaper alternative
The youngster has grown during his two years away from Arsenal. He plays a key role for Brentford and can be the missing link Arteta needs. The addition of Dasilva will add more strength and flexibility to his central area. Also with some stars listed in the transfer market, Arsenal needs new ones.
Mikel Arteta has been able to earn the trust of the supporters. He just needs more resources to complete his plans for rebuilding Arsenal. The Spaniard has also made nine of his first-team stars available in the market. This will help him fund new recruits that can be key to Arsenal’s future.
The Gunners will be coming back strong next season under Arteta’s leadership. They just need to find the right deals and right signings to strengthen their squad. It’s been a while since they finished in the top four or saw the title. But if Arteta gets the right resources, he will make new history for Arsenal.
