Jurgen Klopp’s side lost the race to sign Timo Werner a month ago. Liverpool is to lose yet again in the Kai Havertz signing.
Kai Havertz has been on Liverpool radar for quite some time now. But the Reds did not make a solid move as of yet. As per Fabrizio Romano’s Instagram post, Chelsea is on the brink of sealing a deal. This means Liverpool have lost a transfer target to Chelsea for the second time.
Liverpool was very keen on signing Timo Werner as well. Even the German international did express his respect for Klopp. There were huge speculations that he would sign for Liverpool. But Chelsea made a shocking move to swoop him away. Werner will soon start training with the Blues in the coming weeks as well.
Havertz has been a player many European clubs put their focus on. But it seems like Chelsea is the fastest in making a solid deal. The Blues are willing to pay Leverkusen asking price of €80M in an add on the deal. They have already made terms with Kai Havertz. Hence, it looks like a done deal, Lampard will be lining up some of the best men for next season.
Liverpool on the other hand has not made major signings so far. The PL champs have not made any solid move so far. But the title-holding team will soon lose its glory. Hence, Klopp has to start making backup plans. Having just won their first league title in 30 years. They will have to put up a better game to hold onto it.
Liverpool has a lot to rework
The Reds may be the title holders and lead with 18 points from second-place Manchester City. They are not the top of other statistical factors. Despite being the Champions they are not the most top-scoring club. City lead with 102 goals compared to their 85. That’s about 20 goal difference between the clubs.
This shows that their frontline is not so formidable after all. Liverpool’s trio Mane, Firminho and Salah are known to be a destructive force. But it seems like they are losing their glory lately. Mo Salah himself has been driving down the hill in bis goals per season graph.
Comparing to his 44 goals in the debut season he has just 23 this time. Though the number is not a bad one, it is not what the Reds expect of him. The Egyptian was compared with the likes of the GOAT’s, hence, the tally is looking bad. Mane and Firminho have also been dropping down their numbers. Hence, Klopp must look into making a change before it’s too late.
Klopp was keen on signing Werner ahead of his RB Leipzig exit hints. But the German failed to make a call at the right time. The same goes for the Kai Havertz deal as well. If both these stars are able to shine better or as much as their present clubs. It will be a huge ache for Liverpool.
Chelsea look in good shape for the coming season
Lampard has done a pretty good job with Chelsea. The Blues gaffer has made key signings so far and has a concrete frontline. He has a young set of players in top form. This makes Chelsea a title competitive squad. Their gameplay has also been great with good possession and attack.
Lampard is still looking to bring some more stars before the window closes. Kai Havertz deal is almost done and is just waiting for a confirmation. He is also looking to bring in a new keeper. Kepa Arrizabalaga has not been upto the quality Lampards looks for. Hence, Lampard is looking to sign Andre Onana as per football.london. He is also looking to sign Ben Chilwell this summer. If he can seal all these deals Chelsea will be an unstoppable squad next season.
