Barcelona legends are known to have a very good association with the club even though they are not on the club’s books anymore. Here is a look at one of the world’s best players about his time at Barcelona and his desire to return one day.
Barcelona and Andres Iniesta went their own ways after a long time as an era came to an end in Spanish as well as European football. In an emotional departure, the veteran midfielder said goodbye to his childhood club as he headed to South East Asia to follow his trade in the J League.
The 34 year old is currently on the books of Japanese giants Vissel Kobe, having signed for them earlier this year. He has already gotten off to a good start alongside his European colleague Lukas Podolski. In spite of Iniesta’s exit, there is a lot of mutual respect between the player and club with everyone aware of how much they were worth to each other.
Barcelona’s U14 B team headed for a tournament in Japan this month and the Catalan giants used the opportunity to get in touch with their former star man and all-time legend- Andres Iniesta. The World Cup and European Championship winner was interviewed by the Spanish champions’ official YouTube channel.
“I hope I can be back there in the future,” Iniesta said, “because I view it as my home. I hope one day to be able to transmit everything that I have learned and been taught, and what I’ve done for a long time.” Iniesta also expressed confidence in Lionel Messi succeeding him as Barcelona’s captain, saying the long-time Argentine national team captain “doesn’t need much advice” to do a good job.
He also gave advice to Barça’s new midfielder, Arthur, saying he should be “confident in his game” because “he’s got some very strong attributes.”
Barcelona and Andres Iniesta are extremely indebted to each other. The Spaniard returning in a coaching or directional role at the club would be the perfect way to associate in the near future.
