Gerard Pique has pleaded with Barcelona to sign Real Madrid target Marcos Alonso from Chelsea.

The Chelsea left-back has been one of Antonio Conte’s most consistent performers since his arrival at Stamford Bridge aiding the Blues to the Premier League title in his first season. Alonso’s performances have attracted interest from his former side Real Madrid as the Los Blancos prepare a massive overhaul of players in the summer.

However, to make matters more interesting, Spanish defender, Gerard Pique wants Barcelona’s transfer board to make an attempt at securing a deal for the 27-year-old left-back. Alonso has become the first defender to reach a total of 10 goal contributions this season with 7 scored and 3 assists. These impressive displays for Chelsea have also earned Alonso a first national call-up for Spain.

Pique to Ruin Madrid’s Transfer?

The Real Madrid faithful aren’t huge fans of the big centre-back, but it seems that the Pique is cunningly prepared to snatch Alonso from the hands of their fierce rivals. The 31-year-old defender and manager Ernesto Valverde are reportedly unhappy with signing Yerri Mina and will look at stealing Chelsea’s Marcos Alonso, who is also on the wish-list of fierce rivals Real Madrid.

The Catalonian side is keen on signing a backup option for Jordi Alba, who has been a revelation at Barcelona and have identified the Madrid-born Alonso to fill in the void. Pique will join Alonso for the first time in training for Spain during their international friendlies and the veteran may have a chance of luring his new national compatriot to the Camp Nou.

I doubt Alonso will sign for Barcelona as he has an ancestral connection with Real Madrid. Pique may try convincing him along with taking a dig at Madrid, but the El Classico rivalry is more than just football.
