Chelsea star is out for the season, reveals Antonio Conte

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte fears that their star forward could miss the rest of the season, despite having the likes of Pedro, and even Olivier Giroud to step in.

The 25-year-old who made the £70 million move from Real Madrid to Chelsea, where he has become the Blue’s main striker. After a blistering start to the season with seven goals in his first eight games, Alvaro Morata saw his momentum halted after an injury to his hamstring. But since then Alvaro Morata has gone on to only score three more goals in the Premier League and has been one of the reasons why the Blues are struggling in the league.

The former Real Madrid and Juventus striker has been missing in action for the last five games, with Belgian international Eden Hazard playing as the false number nine. However, during his pre-match press conference on Friday, manager Antonio Conte revealed that he has no idea when his main striker will be back in action.

While the struggling Alvaro Morata is still Chelsea’s main and first choice forward, they do have the likes of former Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud to lead the line. The Frenchman who made his debut, walking off the bench in a 4-1 loss to Watford, could start against West Brom. Antonio Conte went on to add, “Giroud has trained and will be in contention. We are talking a lot about bad results, but sometimes we forget we are facing a serious situation.

Players like Morata, for us, are very important and have been missing for a long period of time. I don’t know how long he will be out. We are struggling a lot to find a solution to solve the pain in his back. If you ask me whether he needs a day, a month or the rest of the season, I don’t know.

I don’t know. For this reason, I’m a bit worried. You know very well the importance of the player.”

Chelsea hasn’t been in the best of forms, with back-to-back losses in the Premier League, including a 3-0 against Bournemouth and a 4-1 against Watford, things are not fine for the Stamford Bridge side. Meanwhile, they still sit fourth and are a massive 19 points behind league leaders Manchester City, and that has made nobody happy.

Author’s take:

Add Alvaro Morata’s injury/absence to the ever-growing list of concerns which also happens to include Antonio Conte getting potentially fired, Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois’s future, Tiemoue Bakayoko struggling to cope with the Premier League, among others and things are going from bad to worse to just downright horrible for the reigning Champions.
