Sky Sports expert Guillem Balague has claims that Chelsea keeper Thibaut Courtois will remain at Chelsea on one condition but has stated that his desire is to move.
The Belgian shot-stopper has established himself as one of the world’s greatest keepers after his move from Atletico Madrid to Chelsea in 2014. And the Blues will now have a massive task of keeping him away from the hands of the European champions. Real Madrid has been looking to replace Costa Rican keeper Keylor Navas, who has been unconvincing between the sticks over this season.
Courtois has confirmed that if not now, he’ll look for a move to Spain later
The Los Blancos are currently struggling this campaign, languishing 4th in the La Liga table with only the Champions League to contend for. The Spanish champions have acquired their prime targets for the summer transfer window in Thibaut Courtois or David De Gea from Manchester United.
But Balague believes that Courtois will remain at Chelsea for a few years to come but only if Chelsea enter a clause for him to join Madrid later in his career. Which means that the 25-year-old could be joining his family at Madrid and play at the Santiago Bernabeu only if Chelsea allow him to that option in his contract.

Balague is well-known in Spain as one of the most intelligent football pundits and journalists in the country, in a recent blog for a Spanish newspaper, he wrote,” He talked about his desire to renew with Chelsea (possibly adding a future transfer clause to Real Madrid?) but that has been conveniently ignored,”
“It could easily have been interpreted as a mid-season review. Only… Thibaut is intelligent, well read, knows what he wants (he doesn’t hide that it’s Real Madrid), and is aware that he is not the only candidate (David De Gea being the other). .And he needed to take that step that they usually demand at the Santiago Bernabeu before making a signing“, he added.

I don’t think Real Madrid will hold back on Courtois, it’s well known that the Spanish giants usually get their prime targets, no matter what the price is. Plus, with the Belgian’s contract ending in 2019, he would be eager to reunite with his family in Madrid, so Balague may have misread the situation as all the directions point to Courtois moving to Madrid.
