Real Madrid and Barcelona threatened in transfer tussle for defender

Inter Milan defender, Milan Skriniar is being chased by European behemoths Real Madrid and Barcelona for quite some time now.

It is being reported that former Barca boss Pep Guardiola is also after the services of the Slovakian star. Skriniar was signed by Inter last summer for €23 million and has put in incredible performances to catch the eyes of top team from all round the world. Skriniar was questioned about Barcelona when he said: “I’m an Inter player, and I do not talk about transfers. Barça is always Barça, but I do not say anything: I’m at Inter and I’m very happy.”

Luciano Spalletti’s trusted centre-back is the subject of interest from Real and Barcelona as well. Real Madrid are looking for an able successor to Pepe and are the front-runners for his signature. Gazzetta dello Sport report that all of the concerned clubs have made enquiries and have not had much luck.

Author’s take

One might wonder, with clubs of this stature vying for his signature, what kind of mammoth fees, Skriniar will command given the insane fees paid for the likes of Kyle Walker, Virgil van Dijk and Aymeric Laporte. Given that Barcelona have already signed Yerry Mina, Madrid looks like a possible destination for the 22-year old.
