Real Madrid star ready to join Chelsea after Manchester United drop interest

The Real Madrid superstar is reportedly ready to quit the Los Blancos for Chelsea after a potential move to Manchester United hitting a dead end.

The 32-year-old is currently having one of his worst seasons with his performances resembling the team’s dismal run so far this season. Ronaldo has faced a lot of flak over his performances this season from fans and critics alike. The Portuguese star lost his place with the fans with the supporters demanding Ronaldo’s exit from the club.

It was initially rumored that Ronaldo is interested in a switch back to his former club Manchester United, but with the Red Devils signing Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal, the deal seems highly unlikely. As per latest reports, Ronaldo is weighing on a move from Spain as he is fed up with the recurring tax issues and the club’s performances this season.

What do the sources state?

The striker who is having the Worst Conversion Rate in Europe’s top five leagues is said to be interested in a return to the Premier League. With Manchester United adding Sanchez to their arsenal of attackers, Chelsea seems to be the Portugal International’s pick.

The sources particularly state that Chelsea is one of the few clubs that could afford his wages with a move to Manchester City or Liverpool not in the radar. The source also states: “Ronaldo to Chelsea would be a stunning deal, but it makes a lot of sense if you think about it. Chelsea needs more attacking players and if United don’t want Ronaldo, it’s very unlikely he would go to Liverpool or Man City because of the rivalry.”

“So that leaves Chelsea as the only club who could afford his wages. It would also mean he was living in a cosmopolitan city, which is something that is important to him now he has four children.”

Chelsea has reportedly rejected a swap deal involving Ronaldo and Belgium star Eden Hazard recently. Ronaldo has been linked with the Blues in the past with club owner Roman Abramovich being a huge fan of the Portuguese star.

Author’s Take:

A deal for Ronaldo would be a huge risk for the Blues taking Ronaldo’s poor form and age into account. The talisman may not be the answer to Chelsea’s attacking woes. Moreover, trading Hazard for the Portuguese star is not worth it and Chelsea could rather look for another potential talented youngster with the fee for Ronaldo.
