Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has been unsettled recently but Zidane has moved to alleviate fears of any possible transfer
Real Madrid resumes their La Liga campaign away to Celta Vigo. A possible banana skid, the match cannot be taken lightly. With Madrid already 14 points behind leaders Barcelona, Zidane will not take any risk with the starting XI at the Balaidos. This means that Cristiano Ronaldo, in all probability, will start for the Los Blancos. The Portuguese has been at the centre of transfer speculation with Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United linked with the player.
The reports started surfacing regarding Ronaldo’s unhappiness over his wages. Notably, the 32-year-old is being paid less than his direct rivals Neymar and Lionel Messi. Regarding Ronaldo moving away from Real, Zidane said, “I cannot imagine a Real Madrid without Cristiano Ronaldo. He is a Madrid player and what he wants is to finish his career here. I do not see him playing anywhere else.”

This will help the Madridistas take a sigh of relief after El Confidencial reported that PSG is gearing up a move for Ronaldo. The Parisians have put up Angel Di Maria, Julian Draxler and Lucas Moura on the transfer list to comply with FFP regulations. They have also sold highly-rated midfielder Goncalo Guedes, a clear indication of their intention to bring in extra money to fund a move for Cristiano.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner’s wage situation has been a sticking a point ever since Lionel Messi agreed to a bumper new contract this season. PSG will most definitely offer more money than the European Champions and this could advertently work in Real’s favour. Don Balon recently reported that Neymar will quit PSG if the Portuguese does arrive at Parc des Princes.
Author’s Take
Florentino Perez has been a known admirer of the Brazilian and will not stand in way of Ronaldo’s departure if it does somehow lead to Neymar’s arrival at the Bernabeu. This is certainly a fantasy scenario which has no right to happen in reality. If the two moves, while being likely, were to happen in the same window, it would overtake last summer’s transfer window as the craziest of them all.
