Chelsea manager Antonio Conte praises the referees after tough London derby

Antonio Conte has said that he’s uninterested about Wilshere’s dive and that he respects the decisions made by the referees.

It was sort of a festive lit derby of the new year when these two met at Emirates. Resulting in a 2-2 breathtaking conclusion, Chelsea went ahead of the Gunners as they to a seven-point lead over them on the points chart. After the first period of end to end football with chances for both teams, Jack Wilshere managed to score the opener, beating Courtois on the first post.

It was not long that Hazard was picturized scoring the equalizer from the spot after a soft tackle by Hector Bellerin in the box. Then less than ten minutes from time, the champions took the lead for the first time after Zappacosta’s cross was sidefooted in by Marcos Alonso. Even though, Conte’s men failed to survive the last throw of the dice by the Gunners.

From a setpiece movement, Marcos Alonso’s clearance was met superbly on the drop by Bellerin who stroke past full stretched Courtois to score for the first time in 22 games. But many of hustle and bustle occurred in the game took some controversial turns, the conflict known for and once again managers have their say on certain aspects which they thought as misjudged situations or unacceptable to rules and regulations.

Arsene Wenger firstly took a dig at the penalty decision which cut out the lead Arsenal were enjoying after the 62nd minute by calling the decision made by the referee as unfair. His counterpart Conte, however, said he didn’t spot either the Wilshere incident on the other end of the pitch nor did he see the penalty incident. “I must be honest, I didn’t see the penalty,” he remarked.

“I didn’t see the dive of Wilshere. Another Journalist asked me if it was fair for Wilshere to continue the game after the dive and a second dive but to be honest I did not see. I do not wish to comment.”

While Wenger went on to say that Anthony Taylor failed to officiate certain matters correctly among other things, while the Blues boss went the other way, even going so far as to say that he liked everything went on and did not see any wrong in referee’s point of view. Conte further added “At the same time we have a great respect for the decision of the referee and for sure there is a lot of frustration for the coach, during the game, after the game.

But at the same time, we must try to accept every decision of the referee, also sometimes if we do not agree with them, the linesman.”

Conte shows his wise character by not getting into the chaotic situation regarding decisions made. It is right that the claims made by the referee on the pitch must be justified and it is, of course, disturbing if it is unjust. But in the game, Conte figured out the faults of his player which caused many errors and disagreed that the referees are not to be blamed.
