Gameweek One ‘Team of the Week’

The stars of gameweek one in the Premier League! How many did you own?

Goalkeeper – Ben Foster (West Brom)

Foster helped the Baggies pick up a clean sheet as they beat Bournemouth 1-0.

Defenders

Zanka (Huddersfield)

Newly-promoted Huddersfield shocked Crystal Palace with a 3-0 victory at Selhurst Park. Zanka helped himself to an assist as well as the clean sheet points in an impressive Premier League debut.

Hegazi (West Brom)

The Egyptian became an instant hero with the West Brom fans heading the winning goal at the Hawthorns. He was the highest scoring defender in fantasy football at the weekend with a goal and a clean sheet. Gareth McAuley may find it difficult to win his place back when he overcomes his injury.

Ben Davies (Tottenham)

Davies continued from where he left off last season with a superb performance at left-back for Spurs. As well as the clean sheet points, he got himself on the score sheet. His yellow card didn’t impact his points tally too much.

Midfielders

Xhaka (Arsenal)

Xhaka put in an excellent performance for Arsenal in their 4-3 win over Leicester. He provided two assists for his teammates. Let’s hope he’s put his disciplinary problems from last season behind him.

Mkhitaryan (Manchester United)

The Armenian struggled in his first season at Old Trafford but he was superb against West Ham. This could be his season! He finished the game with two assists and also had a few attempts at goal himself. He could be a huge fantasy asset in 2017/18.

Eriksen (Tottenham)

Eriksen created both goals in Tottenham’s 2-0 win over Newcastle. He registered 20 Premier League assists last season and who’s to say he won’t match/better that tally this season?

Firmino (Liverpool)

The Brazilian scored a penalty and also layed on the assist for Mo Salah in Liverpool’s 3-3 draw with Watford. He’s going to be a popular fantasy pick this season if he’s the designated penalty taker at Anfield. We don’t know for sure yet as James Milner was on the bench.

Forwards

Vardy (Leicester City)

Vardy was having a party at the Emirates on Friday night until Ramsey and Giroud pulled the plug with two late goals to give Arsenal a 4-3 victory. Despite losing the game, Vardy raked in the fantasy points with a brace.

Lukaku (Manchester United)

Big Rom made an instant impact in a United shirt smashing in two goals against hapless West Ham. He scored 25 league goals for Everton last season, can he hit 30 for United in 2017/18? The Red Devils were in scintillating form against the Hammers and look to set to mount a serious title challenge.

Vokes (Burnley)

The Welshman was the Burnley hero at Stamford Bridge scoring two goals in a 3-2 win over the champions.
