We really should be calling this team the 'Bridegrooms'.

Featured above is a pre-wedding pic shared by the gushing couple before their planned wedding next week. As you may know, Ryu Hyun-jin is marrying sports broadcaster Bae Ji-hyun on January 5th.

Below are more links to check out:

  • This Day in Dodgers History: In 1982 the Dodgers traded for 6' 5" tall reliever Pat Zachry in exchange for utilityman Jorge Orta. In 1993 the Dodgers traded pitcher Isidro Márquez for utilityman Ron Coomer of the White Sox.
  • Happy Birthday, Einar Díaz, Don Thompson & Austin Barnes! I'd also like to extend a special birthday shout-out to Bill "Spaceman" Lee.
  • Sam Miller at ESPN has put together a fascinating list worth checking out: "The Year That ... : Finding the single memory that defines each baseball season since 1903." It includes plenty of Dodgers references. Check it out here.
  • The Los Angeles Business Journal named both Peter Guber (link here) and Magic Johnson (link here) as 2018 "Sports Titans."
The L.A. sports scene seems to have turned a corner. To what do you attribute that?
Gruber: You’ve got a very diverse, deep and robust audience that consumes live, active entertainment ferociously. Now, I don’t know how much more room there is – candidly. I don’t know if a rugby team is going to make it in a world class way, or beach volleyball. I’m not saying they can’t make it, but I’m not sure how much more room there is.
  • This is fun. Tom Shieber at the Baseball Researcher takes a close look at the 1963 film "A New Kind of Love" starring Paul Newman, Joanne Woodward and Dodger Stadium.
  • Rich Mueller at Sports Collectors Daily compiles the, "Top Selling Sports Memorabilia of 2017," and it includes several Dodger-related rarities. There are two items related to Jackie Robinson, one about Sandy Koufax and the Norman Rockwell original study painting featuring a Dodger game.
  • Bean's Ballcard Blog makes a good point about that 1968 Nolan Ryan Gem Mint card that has been making the rounds. This is why I always say, "Buy the Card, Not the Holder."
  • I'd like to extend a Blue Heaven congratulations to the Magill family, per former Dodger prospect Matt Magill's twitter:
