Ian Wright has told Mikel Arteta the three players the Arsenal manager should be looking to sign in the summer transfer window.

The north London side came close to winning the Premier League title this season with Arsenal putting in club-record performances that ultimately saw the Gunners miss out due to the juggernaut that is Manchester City.

With the likes of Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka enjoying career-best seasons, Arsenal have most of the tools needed to go again next season, with this summer a big one for Arteta if he’s to push the Gunners up to another level.

And Wright has suggested the three transfers Arsenal have to pull off this summer.

Wright calls for depth for Arsenal in the transfer window

Speaking on Stick to Football, the Arsenal legend suggested that Arsenal need to focus on signing more depth for the squad in the form of cover for Saka as well as centre-back William Saliba, who played every minute in the league last season.

With Wright also calling for Arsenal to sign another midfielder, the pundit’s suggestions are not far off what most fans want to see in the transfer window, with three big additions potentially enough to get the Gunners over the line against City.

Wright said: “Everybody talks about the centre-forward, but we’ve shown that, as difficult as it can be, that we can deal with the hit of not having that out-and-out centre-forward. I think we need cover for Saka, cover for Saliba and another midfielder.

“You look at what City are doing in respect of bringing players in, you need someone who can, at some stage, challenge someone like Saliba for his position, because we need to strengthen the whole squad, look at the bench, we need cover for Saka.”

Arsenal need to get every signing perfect this summer

Arteta and Edu Gaspar have proven themselves to be shrewd operators in the transfer market in recent years, and this summer must see the duo ensure that every new signing at Arsenal is perfect for the squad.

The mission goal, as laid out by Wright, is easy enough, depth is needed across each core area in the pitch with emphasis needed on backup for Saka and a new central midfield to compliment Rice.

And given the track record Arteta and Edu have, there will be confidence from fans that the pair have the right transfers in mind for Arsenal as they head into the summer window next month.
