Ben Foster urges Mikel Arteta to now sign 19-goal striker who is a ‘great fit’ for Arsenal

Ben Foster has urged Mikel Arteta to sign one of the Premier League’s best strikers this summer for Arsenal.

The Gunners narrowly missed out on the Premier League title with Manchester City clinching their fourth championship in a row with a 3-1 win against West Ham, leaving Arsenal with another second-place finish.

With the north London side taking City to the final game of the season, the improvements from Arsenal were clearly there this year having set a new club-record for Premier League wins and David Raya winning the Golden Glove award.

Yet Foster has now suggested one signing to Arteta that could take Arsenal up another level.

Dominic Solanke suggested to Arsenal as potential summer signing

Speaking on the Fozcast, the former Premier League keeper suggested that Arsenal should move for Dominic Solanke this summer to solve their centre-forward issues, who this season hit a career-best 19-goals in the top-flight.

Foster said: “The Arsenal game, I was pulling my hair out. Listen, they’re really, really good, they battered Everton, and they would have had at least 20 forward movements into the Everton box, and I kept thinking ‘this could be a goal here’.

“But there was nobody there clinical enough to put the ball in the back of the net, nobody there. Wato [co-host David Watson] came up with a belter earlier, he said ‘they just need somebody who is that fox in the box,’ that sniffer who is going to put the ball in the back of the net, Dominic Solanke, he said.

“I think that would be a great fit for Arsenal, I really do. He’s good in the air, physical, works his socks off, puts the ball in the back of the net, it’s what they need.”

Solanke’s transformation might have come too late for Arsenal to move

The AFC Bournemouth striker has been one of the revelations of the season, with Andoni Iraola transforming Solanke into one of the league’s best strikers and a real threat in front of goal.

Yet at 26-years-old and just one real good season in the top-flight, Solanke’s transformation might have come too late for Arsenal to consider a real move for the former Chelsea academy star.

Indeed, Arsenal have been burnt before from signing players with just one amazing top-flight season, and given what the Gunners need in a new striker, Arteta might not be willing to take the risk on Solanke this summer.
