22-goal ace will 'top' Arteta striker shortlist if Arsenal can't sign Alexander Isak early

Arsenal reportedly have a target in mind if they can’s land Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak this summer.

The Gunners fell short of the Premier League title with Manchester City claiming their fourth championship in a row with a 3-1 win against West Ham, with Arsenal also winning on the final day against Everton.

However, much of the talk looking ahead to the summer transfer window has been about Arsenal needing to sign a striker, with Micah Richards and Glenn Murray both saying the Gunners have to move for a world-class centre-forward.

And Arsenal have seemingly narrowed their search ahead of the market opening next month.

Brian Brobbey eyed as Arsenal’s alternative to Isak

According to the Independent, Newcastle star Isak and Ajax youngster Brian Brobbey are viewed as Arsenal’s two main striking targets this summer, with the Swedish international the main target for the Gunners.

As per the report, Newcastle’s reluctance to sell Isak could lead Arsenal to move for Brobbey, who with 22 goals in all competitions this season has been in excellent for with the Dutch giants.

Called up to the Netherlands national team for the first time earlier in the campaign, Brobbey’s stock has risen considerably since returning to Amsterdam this season from RB Leipzig.

Indeed, at 22-years-old, Brobbey is very much at the start of his career, and a move to Arsenal could be tempting for the youngster if the Gunners were to move for the Ajax youngster.

Brobbey could be excellent under Mikel Arteta at Arsenal

This summer is seemingly shaping up to be all about signing a top striker, with Kai Havertz thriving in the role but hardly seen as a long-term option for Arsenal heading into the new season.

And in Brobbey, Arsenal could have the player they need to lead the line for years to come, with the Dutch international one of the most exciting talents in all of Europe.

Whilst Isak might be a more ideal signing for Mikel Arteta, Brobbey represents an exciting opportunity for the Gunners, and Arsenal could move soon to bring the 22-year-old to north London ahead of the summer window opening.
