Why Bukayo Saka was missing from Arsenal squad for final Premier League game v Everton

Arsenal have given an official reason as to why Bukayo Saka missed today’s final Premier League game against Everton.

The Gunners host Sean Dyche’s side in the last league fixture of the season with Arsenal in with a shout of winning the Premier League title if they can win against Everton and if Manchester City slip up against West Ham.

Arsenal have been in exceptional form this season with the Gunners securing the most clean sheets out of any team in the league and dropping points in just two Premier League games in 2024.

Yet Arsenal will be without their star winger Saka to face Everton.

Arsenal confirm slight muscle injury for Saka

As per Arsenal’s official Twitter account, Saka has suffered a slight muscle issue that will keep the 22-year-old forward out of the matchday squad to face Everton, with Leandro Trossard taking up the right-wing position.

With Saka missing just a handful of games this season, the England international’s absence will be felt by Arsenal in their bid to win the last Premier League game of the campaign.

Indeed, Saka has been Arsenal’s most productive player this season and one of the most dangerous in the entire Premier League, with the forward bagging 34 goal contributions in all competitions.

Yet with Arsenal stacked in the attack, Saka missing today’s game might not be too bad a situation, with the Gunners more than good enough to beat Everton even with the Toffees having a mean defence.

Arsenal will want to beat Everton for Saka

Saka missing out the final game of the season is something few Arsenal fans would have wanted to see, yet the youngster’s injury could be used as added motivation for the Gunners.

Arsenal would not be in this position without Saka’s performances this season, with the attacker simply one of the best wide-forwards on the planet and a world-class winger.

And Arsenal will want to win today’s game against Everton, with Saka a key reason why the north London side are as good as they are and why the have a shot at the league title this afternoon.
