Arsenal could now sign ‘special’ striker target for just £34m, thanks to Kia Joorabchian

Arsenal could reportedly land a rumoured target this summer for just £34m thanks in part to work done by super-agent Kia Joorabchian.

The Iranian-born football representative has a controversial history with the Gunners after his work in deals to bring in the likes of Willian to Arsenal, where the Brazilian international was arguably one of the worst signings in the club’s modern history.

With Joorabchian having some power over Arsenal’s transfer business in the early days of Mikel Arteta’s reign at the club, the north London side have made moves in subsequent windows to distance themselves from the agent.

Yet Joorabchian could have now just made a decision that Arsenal might benefit from.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee’s release clause €40m (£34m) is now open to all clubs despite many reports indicating that this was exclusive to former club Bayern Munich.

As per the report, Joorabchian, Zirkzee’s agent, has been key to this change heading into the summer, with the likes of Arsenal now likely to take advantage of this decision when the window opens next month.

Recently lauded by Bologna manager Thiago Motta as a ‘special’ player, Zirkzee would be a good fit for Arsenal’s forward ranks this summer if Eddie Nketiah or Gabriel Jesus were to leave for a good fee.

And with Zirkzee’s release clause now open to all clubs beyond Bayern, Arsenal might consider a swoop for the Dutch attacker, who could be keen on moving to north London to take his career up another level.

Release clause update could change Arsenal’s summer plans again

With Arsenal this week reportedly taking the lead in the race to sign Benjamin Sesko, this update from Italy regarding Zirkzee’s release clause could change plans yet again for the Gunners this summer.

Indeed, Zirkzee is one of the hottest prospects in Europe and has this season played a massive role in helping Bologna clinch a historic top-five finish in Serie A to qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

And if the striker is now worth just £34m this summer, a fee that low might be too good to turn down from Arsenal, with Zirkzee someone who could be a fantastic long-term option for the Gunners.
