Arsenal squad's world ranking revealed as North London club trump Real Madrid

Arsenal have now placed above European behemoth Real Madrid in the latest ranking of squad value.

Mikel Arteta has built a young and hungry Arsenal squad.

The Gunners have shown great ambition in the transfer market in recent windows. In the most recent summer transfer window, the North London outfit shelled out a club-record £105 million fee to prise Declan Rice away from West Ham United.

Rice has since been hailed as the best Arsenal signing since Dennis Bergkamp was brought to the club.

The Gunners have also invested £65 million in Kai Havertz, £50 million in Ben White, and £45 million in Gabriel Jesus, amongst numerous other deals, in recent years.

However, Arteta has also cultivated homegrown talents such as Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe, who now boast considerable value having emerged through the club’s Hale End academy system.

The likes of Martin Odegaard, William Saliba, and Gabriel Martinelli have all also seen their value soar under the guidance of the Spanish coach when compared the figures that Arsenal parted with to secure their services.

Where Arsenal place in squad value rankings

According to football data and analytics company Football Benchmark, Arsenal now boast the second most valuable squad in world football. According to their figures, Arteta’s squad has a combined valuation of £1.015 billion.

Only Manchester City can lay claim to having a squad worth more, with Pep Guardiola’s playing staff valued at £1.179 billion.

Meanwhile, Spanish giants Real Madrid have a squad worth £969 million, which sees them ranked third place in this list. Bayern Munich and Barcelona place fourth and fifth, respectively.

The top ten is rounded out by Liverpool, PSG, Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur.

Mikel Arteta and Edu deserve praise for building Arsenal squad

Arsenal are now also vying with the Cityzens for the Premier League title. The title race will be decided on Sunday when Arteta’s side will host Everton at the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners must beat the Toffees, whilst hoping that Manchester City drop points against West Ham United.

Arsenal fan Piers Morgan is hopeful that the Hammers can pull of a shock result at the Etihad Stadium, following a conversation he had with David Moyes.

No matter how this season ends though, the Gunners have made enormous progress in recent years. Arteta has revolutionised Arsenal, and he and sporting director Edu deserve huge credit for having constructed a squad which is held in such high regard on global terms.
