Attitude of Arsenal ace must convince Edu to make swap deal for ‘special’ £60m star

Arsenal must now seriously consider trying to pull off an ambitious swap deal to bring one attacker to the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal must bolster their attacking contingent in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Whilst the North London club will have money to spend this summer, they still must use their resources wisely. Sporting director Edu will be keen to make savings and strike smart deals whenever and wherever he can.

Part-exchange and swap deals are relatively rare in the modern game, but still have their place. The Gunners must now investigate the possibility of bringing Michael Olise to the club as part of such a deal.

The Crystal Palace winger has been in electric form of late. The 22-year-old has racked up 10 goals and 5 assists in just 18 Premier League outings this season, as injuries have prevented him from having an even greater impact.

There is no doubt that the Eagles will be desperate to keep the Frenchman at Selhurst Park if they can. As reported by the BBC, they have already put a £60 million price tag on the Frenchman.

Former Crystal Palace boss and Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira previously described Olise as a “special talent” in a press conference.

Arsenal must offer Reiss Nelson in swap for Michael Olise

However, the Gunners ought to now be plotting a means of testing the South London club’s resolve by tabling a cash-plus-player offer for the attacker.

It is hard to see Reiss Nelson ever playing a key role for Arsenal ever again. Mikel Arteta clearly lacks faith in the winger, as he has only handed him one Premier League start this season. The 24-year-old certainly has talent though, and has shown it before. He would likely stand a greater chance of getting regular game time with Crystal Palace and could shine for them.

It is now said that Nelson will “consider proposals” from potential suitors, though he isn’t “desperate” to secure an exit.

Why Reiss Nelson and Michael Olise swap deal works for Arsenal and Crystal Palace

In truth, he really ought to be pushing for a departure. At this stage in his career, Nelson needs to be playing regular football. He won’t get that chance at Arsenal, and his attitude towards his future suggests a certain level of being comfortable with a bit-part role, which surely won’t enamour him to the demanding Arteta, who will want to see greater ambition from him than that.

Nelson needs a fresh start, and if offering him to Crystal Palace can help sweeten a deal for the signing of Olise, then that is certainly a move Edu ought to make. The Arsenal man will get the chance to revive his career elsewhere, whilst the Gunners may get a reasonable discount off of Olise’s current asking price.

Whatever happens, Crystal Palace will surely struggle to hang on to Olise. At least in this scenario they will get a talented player in exchange for their prized asset.

Alternatively, Crystal Palace have shown an interest before in signing Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah. The Gunners may well be willing to include the forward in a deal for Olise too.
