'We're being told...' Journalist details when 'world-class' Arsenal star could return

Journalist Charles Watts has detailed when one of Arsenal’s star players could return after missing this weekend’s clash against Wolves.

The Gunners were finally back to winning ways having failed to beat Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League as well as losing to Aston Villa in the Premier League, with Arsenal beating Wolves 2-0.

Goals from Leandro Trossard and Martin Odegaard secured three massive points for the north London side as Mikel Arteta and his Squad returned to the top of the Premier League, with huge games against Chelsea and Tottenham coming up this week.

And there’s now information on when one Arsenal player could be back in the squad.

Takehiro Tomiyasu expected to return to Arsenal squad soon

According to Watts, Takehiro Tomiyasu is expected to return to Arsenal’s squad soon after missing out on Saturday’s win against Wolves, with the defender picking up a knock midweek in Germany against Bayern.

Lauded by Ben White as a ‘world-class’, the Japanese international has been one of Arsenal’s most consistent performers when fully fit, and news that Tomiyasu will be back soon is a huge boost for Arteta and his squad options heading into the final five games of the season.

Watts said on Tomiyasu’s injury: “It was a blow, he played very well against Bayern Munich and kept Leroy Sane really quiet, but as is the way with Tomi, he picked up an injury and hopefully it’s nothing too serious.

“That’s the word we’re being told by Arsenal that it’s just a knock that happened during the Bayern game. It doesn’t look like a muscle injury, so hopefully, it’s just an impact thing, and he shouldn’t be out for too long.”

Arsenal need everyone fit for the Premier League run-in

Five games separate Arsenal from what might be their first Premier League title in 20 years, and Arteta will need every player fit if the former Manchester City coach is to make history in north London this season.

And with Tomiyasu expected to be fit for the final games with Jurrien Timber on the mend, Arsenal will have everyone available, a luxury that Arteta has to use to the max to keep key players fit and to stop certain figures from crashing and burning.

Indeed, squad rotation is something Arteta is yet to really crack as Arsenal manager, and these final games could highlight this problem in a big way if key players start to fall due to fatigue.
