'Outstanding...' Mikel Arteta blown away by what £27m Arsenal star did vs Wolves

Mikel Arteta has expressed his amazement over what one Arsenal star did against Wolves last night.

The north London side returned to the top of the Premier League table after a 2-0 win against Gary O’Neil’s side, with Leandro Trossard’s thunderbolt and Martin Odegaard’s late goal securing a massive result for the Gunners.

Whilst Liverpool play later today, Arsenal returning to winning ways having failed to win in their last three games in all competitions was a big moment for the Premier League title hopefuls, especially away to a difficult team like Wolves.

And Arteta was blown away by one moment from a certain Arsenal player during the match.

Arteta lauds ‘outstanding’ David Raya save in Arsenal win vs Wolves

Speaking to the press via Arsenal’s official website, Arteta was full of praise for David Raya’s save in the opening half that kept the Gunners in the game, with the £27m signing from Brentford again impressing between the sticks.

Having won praise already from the likes of Alan Smith and Arsenal supporters, Raya enjoyed one of his best games for the north London side, and Arteta himself was impressed with what he saw from the Spanish international against Wolves.

Arteta said on Raya’s save: “Very, very good. He didn’t concede anything up to that point and we had some very open situations to score goals and we didn’t, and that would have changed the course of the game for sure.

“David was outstanding in that moment to make the save that we needed, and we took advantage. I think he’s been very consistent throughout the whole season and obviously the numbers that we have are proof of that.”

Clutch moments could be what wins Arsenal the Premier League title

Arsenal are potentially five games away from a first Premier League title in 20 years, and big moments from big players could be the difference between just another top-four finish or a historic piece of silverware.

And Raya’s save against Wolves yesterday are the sort of moments Arsenal need from their big-name players if they’re to beat Liverpool and Manchester City to the title, with perfection needed from here on out.

Indeed, Arsenal are showing signs of running out of steam yet again this April, yet the players know they will need to dig deep and give every ounce of quality required if they’re to win the Premier League title.
