Martin Keown now names three Arsenal players who are currently fighting for their futures

Arsenal are set for a busy summer both in terms of signings as well as sales, and there is little time left in the season for some players to prove their worth.

Mikel Arteta’s lack of rotation this season has been questionable, and there is perhaps a level of distrust between him and the backup players available to him.

Arsenal’s Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich saw several big names left as unused substitutes, and their futures could all be under question ahead of the summer transfer window.

Arteta may look to cash in on some of his squad players to make room for potential upgrades, and Arsenal legend Martin Keown has now claimed that some of them may be needed in the final six games, with the Gunners fighting for the Premier League title.

Martin Keown calls for Thomas Partey, Fabio Vieira and Emile Smith Rowe to fight for Arsenal futures

Speaking to TalkSPORT, Keown claimed that Arteta could make use of Thomas Partey, Emile Smith Rowe and Fabio Vieira in the coming weeks, and if he does not, then all three could end up leaving in the summer.

“I think it’s a case of when you come to the end of the season, we will start looking at the likes of Vieira, who we have not really seen, we have looked at Partey who doesn’t really give you a bill of health, the security that he is able to play, you look at Smith Rowe. Is he able to cope with the competition where he is not playing? Because it’s difficult,” he stated.

“These are things that if you win the Premier League, maybe some of these guys will stay in there, but the decisions will be made at the end of the season.”

Partey should be considered for sale, with one year left on his deal and no reliability from the 30-year-old when it comes to his fitness.

The Ghanaian has had a slow return to action after missing most of the season with injury, and Martin Zubimendi has been linked as a possible replacement.

Vieira has made just five Premier League starts since a £34m move from Porto last year, but has shown glimpses of talent, and next season could be one final opportunity for him to justify his fee.

Smith Rowe may attract a big offer in the summer, and if he does, Arsenal may have to consider a sale unless they are prepared to give him more game time, but if he does not feature in the coming weeks, he should be considered expendable.
