Arsenal, Liverpool launch enquiries over £51m transfer for 22-y/o with ‘world-class potential’

Arsenal and Liverpool have now made enquiries to discuss the transfer of a 22-year-old with ‘world-class potential’ after his club set a price tag in stone for the summer.

The Gunners and Reds are currently locked in a fight for the Premier League title, along with Manchester City. But Arsenal and Liverpool may also tussle in the transfer market as the two teams strive to improve their squads to vie for honours on multiple fronts again next season.

Liverpool challenging for the top-flight crown this term will see the Anfield natives return to the Champions League next season. But the Reds will also have a new manager once Jurgen Klopp departs. Mikel Arteta led Arsenal back into UEFA’s elite club competition for this term.

Arsenal and Liverpool make enquiries over Eintracht Frankfurt defender Willian Pacho

Klopp will leave Anfield at the end of this season but Liverpool are already preparing for the summer transfer window. That is according to Florian Plettenberg, who reports Arsenal and Liverpool have launched enquiries to Eintracht Frankfurt to discuss a deal for Willian Pacho.

The Gunners and Reds hold long-standing interest in the centre-back and are now stepping up their pursuits. Eintracht Frankfurt have even reacted to their interest by slapping a price tag of €50-60m (£42.5-51m) on their Ecuador international, who would be allowed to move.

Die Adler would not block Pacho from securing a transfer if clubs meet their asking price for his signature. They see him as a key player and have the 22-year-old under contract through to June 2028. But bids in the region of Eintracht Frankfurt’s price tag would please the club.

Willian Pacho’s ‘speed and strength in the tackle’ are his best attributes

Pacho has emphasised his importance to Eintracht Frankfurt this season with 28 Bundesliga appearances over a potential 29 games. The 10-cap defender has also started in each of his outings to date with 39 across all competitions, including in the Europa Conference League.

His performances have further helped Die Adler to register 11 clean sheets so far this term. Eintracht Frankfurt manager Dino Toppmoller has praised Pacho for offering ‘really reliable’ performances, and believes the Quininde-born enforcer even boasts ‘world-class potential’.

Additionally, Eintracht Frankfurt sporting director Markus Kroche notes that Pacho’s ‘speed and strength in the tackle’ are his best attributes. Bundesliga.com has marked his top speed so far this term at 34.44 km/h (21.4 mph) as the 62nd fastest player in Germany’s top-flight.
