Report: Arsenal remain keen to sign £67m transfer target but Edu faces one tough obstacle

Arsenal are apparently still keen to sign Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic.

According to Italian publication Tuttojuve, Arsenal retain a strong interest in securing the services of Dusan Vlahovic. The Gunners have made efforts to sign the forward before and are planning to make another move in the upcoming January transfer window. However, Juventus have no interest in offloading the 23-year-old.

Mikel Arteta first tried to sign Vlahovic whilst he was still on the books at Fiorentina. In January 2022, though, the striker opted to join Juventus in a deal worth £66.6 million.

Vlahovic has been a solid, if not spectacular, goalscorer for the Turin giants since his arrival, but has started the new season in excellent form. In seven Serie A outings so far the 23-cap Serbia international has netted four times and provided one assist.

There is no doubting that Vlahovic has huge potential. Given the level of their investment in the player, and the heights he may one day reach, it is easy to see why Juventus are reluctant to let him go.

Arsenal sporting director Edu faces an extremely tough task in prising Vlahovic away from the Italian club.

Dusan Vlahovic fits the profile that Arsenal are seeking

Arsenal are in need of a new, elite-level striker. The Mirror has reported that the north London club are plotting a swoop for Ivan Toney.

Meanwhile, according to Football Transfers, Edu has tried to make some early headway on securing a deal for Victor Osimhen from Napoli.

Pundits have suggested that Arsenal will not be able to get their hands on a Premier League title without a more reliable goalscorer on the books.

For all of his raw talent and technical ability, Gabriel Jesus can be a frustrating figure, as his finishing is inconsistent. Equally, Eddie Nketiah simply isn’t prolific enough.

Vlahovic would be an exciting addition to Arteta’s squad, but securing his signature seems like a long shot at this point.
