Arsenal have reportedly sent scouts to watch Sacha Boey.

According to Fotospor, Arsenal, Manchester United, Brighton, and Burnley are all scouting Galatasaray right-back Sacha Boey.

There is clearly a great deal of Premier League interest in the 23-year-old defender who has previously been described as an “amazing player.”

Boey is certainly a key player for Galatasaray. He has played every minute of Super Lig and Champions League action for the Turkish club so far this season.

The Frenchman is supremely talented and has vast potential. He certainly seems ready take the step up and test himself at Premier League level. Whether or not he will get that opportunity at Arsenal remains to be seen.

Sacha Boey is not the player Arsenal need

There is an argument that the north London club don’t need Boey. In Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu, Mikel Arteta already has two solid right-back options at his disposal. Then, of course, there is Jurrien Timber, who will eventually return from injury and challenge for game time in that part of the pitch. 

There are other areas of the Arsenal squad in far greater need of investment than the right-back berth. The Gunners need an elite-level striker, and a natural back up for Bukayo Saka must also be near the top of Arteta’s shopping list.

On top of that, with the likes of Thomas Partey, Jorginho, and Mohamed Elneny all the wrong side of 30-years-old, a midfield refresh is also on the horizon at the Emirates Stadium.

Boey may well be an exciting talent, but he is not the player that Arsenal ought to currently be seriously in the market for. What’s more, the level of interest in the player from rival Premier League clubs could easily spark a bidding war, driving Boey’s price up.

All in all, this does not seem like a deal Arsenal will be chasing with any real conviction at this time.
