Arsenal sporting director Edu Gaspar has plenty of connections with Brazilian football, and he may now be set to put them to good use.

A number of Brazilians have joined the club since his return as a director in 2019, with the likes of Willian, Gabriel Magalhaes, Gabriel Jesus and Marquinhos all signing during his time in charge of transfers.

Arsenal have now been linked with a number of Brazilian stars, and there may actually be legs to these rumours, given that Edu has now been spotted in Brazil.

Edu Gaspar spotted in Brazil

The former Arsenal midfielder has now been photographed in his native country, where it is reportedly believed that he visited Brazilian clubs Fluminense, Athletico Paranaense, Corinthians and Palmeiras in recent days.

Edu played for Corinthians over two spells during his career on the pitch, and became a director for the club before he returned to Arsenal.

Arsenal’s transfer links

Arsenal have been linked with Corinthians midfielder Gabriel Moscardo, Fluminense midfielder Andre and Corinthians winger Pedro Henrique, amongst others in recent months.

Moscardo, 18, and Andre, 22, are both central midfielders who can operate both at the base and further forward in the middle.

In recent days, Andre has been linked with Liverpool and Arsenal, and he may be on the move in January once Fluminense conclude their Copa Libertadores campaign, which will see them face Boca Juniors in the final in November.

Pedro Henrique, or Pedrinho, is a right-footed left-winger, and given recent Transfer Links with Pedro Neto, he may also have been on Edu’s radar in the search for extra attacking firepower as he returned to his homeland.

Edu likely has his eyes on a lot of Brazil’s top prospects, and given the talents that are emerging there right now, he could pull off a masterstroke if he gains early intelligence on some of the wonderkids breaking through.

Whilst it is still a mystery what his trip to Brazil encompassed, it will be worth keeping an eye on these names if further links to Arsenal emerge.
