Arsenal reportedly lead Chelsea in transfer race for 21-year-old now blowing Man City away

Arsenal lead Chelsea and Manchester City in a fierce fight for the transfer of Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Georgiy Sudakov, who could also replace Paul Pogba for Juventus.

That is according to TEAMtalk, which reports that Juventus are now braced for English sides to rival their interest in Sudakov. It also adds that Arsenal head the Premier League pack with eyes on the 21-year-old. The Gunners have been monitoring his progress for several months.

Arsenal first became aware of Sudakov’s potential whilst scouting Mykhailo Mudryk last year and have remained alert to the maestro. But Mudryk’s move to Chelsea last January has also brought the Blues into the mix. The attacker has regularly talked up Sudakov in west London.

Mudryk keeps telling Chelsea that Sudakov is a young player worth following like Arsenal and Juventus have. Roberto De Zerbi has also instructed Brighton & Hove Albion to monitor what progress the playmaker shows. He coached the Ukraine talent for Shakhtar Donetsk in 2021.

Now, Sudakov is even blowing Manchester City away with his progress after recovering from appendicitis earlier this year. But Juventus are trying to get the jump on all English rivals. The Serie A side have already made initial contact about a move for the midfielder come January.

Juventus are positioning themselves to beat Arsenal et al to Sudakov’s transfer in January as they prepare to replace Pogba. Allianz Stadium chiefs believe the Ukraine prospect can help to fill the Frenchman’s void in Turin. Sudakov has shown he has solid playmaking credentials.

Sudakov made his senior debut with Shakhtar Donetsk in October 2020 shortly after turning 18. He has since registered 12 goals and 12 assists in 75 games in all competitions, including three assists in Europe. He has also scored two goals in eight appearances so far this term.

The attacking midfielder has only played for 534 minutes this season after returning from his bout of appendicitis. But Sudakov earned two of his six starts in the Champions League with ties against FC Porto and Royal Antwerp. He did not score or assist in either UEFA encounter.
