Kevin Campbell has urged Arsenal to sign Brentford star Ivan Toney and Wolves’ Pedro Neto in January for the levels of money that Napoli want for Victor Osimhen’s transfer.

The Gunners are set for a busy mid-season market this season as Mikel Arteta and Edu look to strengthen. Arsenal will attack the winter sales aiming to add the missing pieces who may deliver the Premier League title. Arteta also has a few issues with his squad that need fixing.

Arsenal have felt the impacts of their failures to sign another winger in the summer after the injuries to Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard. So, Arteta has eyes on Neto before the January transfer window after offering Wolves a very creative presence this term.

Campbell urges Arsenal to sign Toney and Neto over Osimhen alone

Arteta also has his eyes on moves for Arsenal to sign Toney from Brentford or Osimhen from Napoli in January. But Gunners hero Campbell feels the Emirates Stadium club may be naïve to sign Osimhen alone. Instead, Neto and Toney are a superior package for the same money.

Campbell told Curtis Shaw TV: “You can get Ivan Toney and Neto for virtually the money you are going to spend on Osimhen. Quality player that he is – top-class – he has never played in the Premier League. Will he just automatically just transition to the Premier League?

“We don’t know. Two players that we know can come in and hit the ground running are Toney and Neto. £60m? You take Toney all day long. £80m? If someone says pay that and you win the title, then you pay it. Don’t you?

“You get Neto, as well. You solve the problem of the Saka dilemma and Martinelli because Neto can play on that side, as well. But Toney is the key. He offers that big and strong striker who can cause Man City problems. We have seen him cause Liverpool problems.”

Wolves and Brentford together want what Napoli would demand

Reports by The Sun credit Arsenal with an interest in Osimhen but note that Napoli value his transfer at £150m. The 24-year-old also has interest from Chelsea, Manchester United, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain. He has scored six goals in eight Serie A games this season.

The Daily Mail, meanwhile, reports that Arsenal are targeting a transfer for Toney ‘big time’. It even suggests that the Brentford striker covets a move to north London as much as Arteta wants his signature. But Toney could cost Arsenal as much as £80m in the January window.

Arteta is infatuated with signing Toney as the Arsenal boss believes the Brentford striker has the right character and physicality. TEAMtalk also reports that Arteta is a big fan of Neto but Wolves will want at least £60m for his transfer to Arsenal with Manchester United also keen.

The Old Gold’s valuation is a ‘major concern’ for the Gunners, according to football.london, after a big-spending summer. Arsenal may delay targeting Neto’s transfer to avoid concerns about Financial Fair Play issues. He has five assists in eight Premier League games this term.
