Arsenal secured the signing of Ajax defender Jurrien Timber in the summer transfer window, and quickly realised they had found a gem before he picked up a long-term injury.

Timber was very impressive in his limited game time for Arsenal, standing out in the Community Shield, before picking up a long-term injury on his Premier League debut.

Mikel Arteta may have perhaps seen enough from him in those two games that he is ready to return to the Netherlands to sign his twin brother, Quinten Timber.

The 22-year-old is a midfielder, who plays for Ajax’s rivals Feyenoord, and he is now attracting interest from a number of top sides including Arsenal.

Arsenal are interested in Timber

A report from 90min has now claimed that Arsenal have scouted Timber on a number of occasions this season, with the midfielder impressing the scouts in attendance at De Kuip.

Feyenoord recently beat Ajax in De Klassieker, with Timber performing superbly against his brother’s former side.

Timber won the Eredivisie title with Feyenoord last season, and he has also been scouted by Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City, Liverpool and Manchester United.

Arsenal’s advantage

Despite his injury, Jurrien Timber could help Arsenal sign his brother if Arteta chooses to pursue the midfielder.

Jurrien, who admitted he was an Arsenal fan growing up when he signed, could be the key to luring Quinten, with the prospect of the two brothers playing alongside each other an interesting one.

It would not be the first time two identical twins have played for the same team, with Rafael and Fabio at Man United a major example, and having previously played for each others’ biggest rivals, the brothers may be keen on a possible reunion.

If Quinten is anywhere near as good as Jurrien, then Arsenal need to pursue the second Timber brother.
