Arsenal now confirm new contract for 'brilliant' player, he's 'delighted'

Arsenal have today secured the future of yet another top prospect, as youngster Myles Lewis-Skelly has signed his first professional contract with the club.

The teenager recently turned 17, making him eligible to sign Professional terms, and Arsenal have been quick to tie him down.

He is viewed as one of the top prospects in the academy, and could be the next Hale End star to break into the first team following the success of Bukayo Saka, Emile Smith Rowe, Eddie Nketiah and Reiss Nelson in recent years.

The midfielder, who can also play as a full-back, has signed his first Contract and expressed his delight at his new deal.

“It feels amazing. I’m so delighted because, since I was a boy, I’ve been dreaming of this moment,” he stated.

“To say that I’m a professional football player now is a dream come true for me and I just want to thank all the staff and all my family that came to support me. For the support around me, I couldn’t be any more grateful.”

Journalist Charles Watts described the teenager as “brilliant” after he scored a last-minute winner in the FA Youth Cup semi-final last season, and comments from under-18s manager Jack Wilshere echo this.

Wilshere has compared him with Oleksandr Zinchenko, as the player can play both wide, at full-back and in midfield, and he believes the youngster can initially develop as a left-back before becoming a midfielder.

“I think Myles developing as a left-back will give him experience,” Wilshere claimed.

“I don’t think he’s going to be a left-back, by the way, he’ll be a midfielder.”

Lewis-Skelly’s intelligence stands out as a particularly strong attribute of his, and he has become one of the best players in the academy despite playing alongside players older and more physically developed than him.

The future looks bright, with Ethan Nwaneri also signing a new deal in the summer, and Arsenal may look forward to the next bunch of top talents following Saka’s path to stardom.
