Thierry Henry tells three Arsenal players to step up and deliver vs Man City

Following Bukayo Saka’s injury against RC Lens last night, Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has urged Eddie Nketiah, Leandro Trossard and Kai Havertz to step up when Manchester City come to town on Sunday.

Arsenal didn’t just suffer a 2-1 defeat in France last night, we also lost one of our best players to injury. Saka limped off the pitch after what appeared to be a hamstring problem, and that is a massive blow for us ahead of the big game this weekend.

Arsenal have an awful recent record against Manchester City in the Premier League.

The last time we beat the reigning champions was all the way back in December 2015, when Arsene Wenger was still at the club. Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott scored that day.

Under Mikel Arteta, Arsenal have broken many such bad streaks. We really need to put an end to our winless run against Manchester City, and what better day to do it than this Sunday?

However, there is a chance Arsenal will be without Bukayo Saka for that game, which would be a huge blow for us. Thierry Henry, however, has urged three others to step up and deliver if the Englishman is unavailable.

The legendary Frenchman said on CBS Sports: “Now, you lose, it can happen, but also it looks like you might have lost Bukayo Saka.

“People were talking about Rodri not playing at the weekend – suddenly, you don’t have your, for me in my eyes, the main man at Arsenal right now, playing against Man City at the weekend. We’re not going too far, it looks like it.

“It’s going to be the job of Eddie Nketiah, the job of a Trossard, the job of Kai Havertz that came, to show that we can make sure we aren’t going to think about Bukayo if he’s not playing at the weekend.”

Who should replace Saka?

Arsenal made a big mistake not signing a backup for Bukayo Saka in the summer.

Mikel Arteta has used Fabio Vieira in that role on the right wing, while Leandro Trossard, Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz can also play there.

However, against a team like Manchester City, we must prioritise using natural wingers in the wider areas. So, we think Reiss Nelson is the man who deserves a start on Sunday if Saka is ruled out.

The Englishman is more comfortable on the left but he is our best winger on the right when Saka is unavailable. We think he has the quality to cause City a few problems, and we hope Arteta will turn to him on Sunday.
