Arsenal fans debut Shakira-inspired Havertz chant after first goal v Bournemouth

Arsenal fans delighted in Kai Havertz scoring his first goal since joining the Gunners at AFC Bournemouth this Saturday by debuting a Shakira-inspired chant for the German.

The Emirates Stadium natives spent big in the off-season to coax Havertz away from London rivals, Chelsea. Mikel Arteta secured an initial £62.5m deal with the Stamford Bridge outfit in June for the 24-year-old. Add-ons can take the fee up to £67.5m across a five-year contract.

Havertz left west for north London after three years having struggled to produce consistent form in Blue. Chelsea’s managerial merry-go-round hampered the 39-cap Mannschaft star’s hopes of ever finding consistency. But Havertz had struggled to get going for Arsenal at first.

Havertz gets off the mark in a 4-0 rout at Bournemouth

Things may now be on the up for Havertz at Emirates Stadium, though, after scoring his first goal for Arsenal as Arteta’s side won at Bournemouth. The Gunners boss kept his faith in the Aachen native to open the action at Dean Court for his eighth start through 10 appearances.

Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard elected to give Havertz the penalty after Arsenal won the second spot-kick of the afternoon at Bournemouth. Odegaard (44’) had just converted from the spot. And Havertz (53’) would put Arsenal 3-0 up to fire the travelling fanbase into song.

What are the lyrics to Arsenal’s new Havertz chant?

You might now be wondering what the lyrics are to the chant that Arsenal’s fans serenaded Havertz with on Saturday. Gunners supporters have adapted the lyrics to Shakira’s 2010 hit ‘Waka, Waka (This time for Africa)’. They will now be hoping he scores a lot more to merit it.

‘Tsamina mina, eh, eh,

‘Waka waka, eh, eh,

‘£60million down the drain,

‘Kai Havertz scores again’

Havertz joined Arsenal after scoring 32 times from 139 appearances for Chelsea across all competitions. His haul included hitting 19 in 91 Premier League games in three seasons. The German also got the only goal to beat Manchester City in the 2021 Champions League final.
