Pundit ‘very impressed’ with Arsenal star who tried to ‘dominate’ Brentford

Scott Minto was ‘very impressed’ with how Eddie Nketiah played as Arsenal won 1-0 at Brentford in the Carabao Cup. He loved the striker’s wish to try to ‘dominate’ the Bees.

The Gunners secured a fourth-round clash with another London rival in West Ham United on Wednesday night. Nketiah stole possession in the Brentford box and fed Reiss Nelson to hit the only goal of the game. The attacker’s effort put Arsenal in front after only eight minutes.

Nketiah latched onto Mathias Jorgensen’s loose attempted pass to goalkeeper Mark Flekken under duress from Charles Sagoe Jr. The 24-year-old was then fortunate that Nathan Collins failed to intercept his cross. But Nelson kept his cool to roll his strike into the bottom corner.

Minto adored Nketiah’s role in Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Brentford

Arsenal will now visit West Ham at the end of October in the next round after Nketiah found Nelson to edge Brentford 1-0. Yet it was not only the striker’s assist that impressed Minto on Wednesday. He also appreciated the Arsenal academy product’s desire to threaten the Bees.

“Nketiah is the one dragging the game by the scruff of its neck,” Minto said on talkSPORT. “I’ve been so impressed with how Nketiah has played. I’ve been very impressed with how well he’s played, and has tried to dominate from striker and that’s not easy.”

Nketiah still left Arteta with a decision to make at Bournemouth

Nketiah had to deliver an impressive performance as Arsenal visited Brentford with his place in Mikel Arteta’s team at risk. The Hale Ender has struggled to lead the Gunners’ line in their recent matches. He also now has an increased challenge with Gabriel Jesus back from injury.

What shone through at the Gtech Community Stadium was Nketiah’s will to work tirelessly – as Minto alludes – though. He played on the front foot to push the Bees back for most of the game. Passing to Nelson to score also proved that Nketiah is improving his decision-making.

But Arteta will still have to weigh up Nketiah’s position when Arsenal visit AFC Bournemouth this Saturday. The 24-year-old’s struggles to score continued against Brentford on the back of wasting some glorious chances against Tottenham. Flekken charged down his best effort.
