Inter Milan are reportedly considering a bid for Arsenal defender Takehiro Tomiyasu, with the Japanese international linked with a move back to Serie A.

According to Italian journalist Pasquale Guarro, the Nerrazzuri could soon make a €20m (£17m) offer for the 24-year-old player, though Arsenal are unlikely to accept such a proposal for Tomiyasu.

The former Bologna defender has featured and impressed in pre-season this summer, and whilst Tomiyasu last year lost his right-back position to Ben White, there’s no denying the former Bologna star’s value to Arsenal.

The ability to play in every defensive position across the backline has made Tomiyasu one of many versatile options Mikel Arteta now has in his squad, with the Japanese international too important a player to let leave for Inter.

Lauded by White as a ‘world-class’ player, the upcoming season will be a big one for Tomiyasu, and Arsenal have to shut down any and all attempts from Inter to bring the defender back to Italy.

Arsenal have to stop Tomiyasu from joining Inter

Tomiyasu might not be a regular again for Arsenal next season, but there’s no denying that Arteta sees great things in the 24-year-old, and the Gunners must now do all they can to stop Inter from signing the defender.

With UEFA Champions League football finally back at the Emirates for next season, squad rotation and keeping everyone fit will be key if Arsenal are to compete in every tournament to the best of their abilities.

As a result, Arteta must keep all his players at the club and happy, which means shooting down Inter’s advances for Tomiyasu whilst reassuring the defender that he will play a role in the new season.
