Report: Three top-six sides eye move for Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah

According to 90min, Liverpool, Chelsea and four other Premier League sides are interested in signing Arsenal Striker Eddie Nketiah this summer.

The young Englishman has been at the club since he was just 14 years old. He came through the ranks at Hale End and was always viewed as the next big thing at Arsenal.

Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe have overtaken him, but Nketiah has shown in recent weeks that he’s a quality player as well. Sadly for Arsenal, it looks like the 23-year-old will leave at the end of his contract this summer.

Nketiah got his opportunity from the start when Alexandre Lacazette missed the game against Southampton due to illness. The Englishman has started six consecutive games in the Premier League since and has scored four times, which is a very good record.

The 22-year-old’s stock is higher than it has ever been, and a couple of the big boys are monitoring his situation ahead of the summer transfer window, when he’ll officially become a free agent.

The report claims that Chelsea and Liverpool are keeping an eye on him, while another top-six side in West Ham are interested as well.

Fellow Premier League sides Newcastle, Everton and Crystal Palace are also said to be keen, and we won’t be surprised if a few other clubs join the race to sign him in the coming weeks

The Insider’s View:

West Ham, Newcastle, Everton and Crystal Palace’s interest is understandable and if Nketiah decides to join any of those clubs and becomes the first-choice striker there, we can’t really blame him, can we?

However, a move to Liverpool or Chelsea makes absolutely zero sense.

Nketiah’s only demand during contract negotiations has been regular game time. Mikel Arteta just hasn’t been able to guarantee that, and we don’t see how Thomas Tuchel or Jurgen Klopp can do that either.

Nketiah is a talented player, but he’s never going to displace Romelu Lukaku and Kai Havertz at Chelsea or Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino at Liverpool.

Staying at Arsenal makes much more sense in our opinion, but it is looking more and more unlikely with each passing day.
